It's close between pcmanfm and thunar but I'll go with pcmanfm. Dolphin is great when I use KDE though.

I find the approach with a base ISO and a script menu very well. My ideal vision is: 1 Install a sid-based iso with the normal live-installer from Debian. 2 Upgrade the whole system and reboot. 3 (Auto) run a script to install the software. 4 All your special flavors can be there as meta-packages (...
