Re: What are you actually running for daily/primary usage?
@wux - yeah, it seems to be a muscle relaxer. Usually a good rule of thumb is that if you see a chemical name with -ol in it, it is some sort of alcohol (has -OH somewhere in the structure.) But man with drugs, all bets are off. @ivan - it is great. latex isn't the easiest thing in the world to deal...

Re: What are you actually running for daily/primary usage?
Yeah, if people thought this guy was going to try and write a couple hundred page dissertation with Word they are crazy. I can't even imagine trying to format that beast correctly. Between latex with bibtex and libreoffice with zotero I can write anything and cite it with ease, all using free and op...

Re: What are you actually running for daily/primary usage?
Here's some scrots for you. At least in XFCE. That's my full blown go to if I'm doing a mix of work, gaming, etc. (It really sucks when I'm gaming and I accidentally hit a key combination for my launcher or the like if I'm in i3). As I said, if I'm really just focusing on work, then it's i3. I also ...

Re: What are you actually running for daily/primary usage?
I've switched to Slackware completely now, both on my laptop that has had it for a while and my desktop not long after the new year. I had been considering moving from sid to slack on the desktop for a while but what pushed me over was getting some boot errors. Could not figure out where they were c...

Re: I3: Crackwhore (586)
I put this in a VM and it's fantastic. I run i3 as my daily driver on a debian sid desktop with an ssd, quadcore i5, 8G ram, etc and also on a single core athlon laptop with slackware. This gives me great inspiration for where to take each setup and to play with some even less known utils. Thanks gu...

Download a banned chemistry experiments book for children. I love the part where they want you to make chlorine gas and then sniff it.

Re: OPENBOX: Sidbang (i686/amd64) Release News
This looks really sweet for my laptop now that I built a new rig. Crunchbang brought me back to Debian and in a way to the bbq. But seriously, related to the cruchbang forum link, who the fuck drinks decaf? Many of the processes involve letting the beans sit in the same solvents I use in my lab. Ple...

Re: Propaganda
It took them long enough, I've been dropping hints in their subreddit while they've been discussing tiling WM's. EDIT: Oh shit, just watched it. Didn't realize they read the e-mail I sent. I swear my grammar is normally better. And also, I hope he does take the challenge because right now he just is...

Re: fbterm probs/solutions
I run i3wm now and enjoy using it. It's not that I really care about having a very small environment. I agree that people should use what is best for them. But I use linux not only as a work environment but also as something fun to play with. Lowering resources would be a fun game to me. And when I ...

Re: fbterm probs/solutions
Well, I'm on my macbook pro now (version 1,1 from 2006) and I do have a debian sid partition on it. It's running a radeon x1600. I'll have to check later with my home laptop. Perhaps this would be easier to just do an extremely minimal WM for dual screen. (I'll take suggestions) I'm just really jeal...

Re: fbterm probs/solutions
I've tried to find an answer to this, but I'm getting nowhere fast. What is the best/easiest/possibly only way to setup dual monitors for tmux and/or fbterm?

Re: Amazed I just found this place
I'm going to have to have some self control or I will have installed every piece of software I see on this forum. Thankfully, I decided on i3 before meandering this way. I had a lot of fun trying out gangbang. (This must be why you name these things like this. "Last night I tried out gangbang f...

Re: Do/would you own a Chromebook?
As someone who is in grad school and has bought a Chromebook for his grandmother, let me chime in: This really depends on what the intended use of the device is. I've considered one for myself many times since the price point is so attractive, however, as I've tumbled down the rabbit hole of no bloa...

Re: Amazed I just found this place
@baconator - thanks! slmenu seems like it would do the trick. And I know I've only scratched the surface of the power and extensibility of tmux. Plus I've switched my default shell to zsh to see what the fuss is about. ohmyzsh is quite handy. So all in all I'm having a blast

Re: Amazed I just found this place
fuck it, derail all you want. sorry for the slight disappearance, went to a bachelor party this weekend and...well...alcohol was cosumed. I will have to try this beard thing again this winter. I'm already trying out some no-x right now in a tmux session with xlinks2. I really need to have a look at ...

Re: Amazed I just found this place
So many questions! Let's take them one by one: @machinebacon - I'm more of an Englander, especially since the weather is starting to cool down. Every now and again I feel like smoking straight Latakia (although just because it has Latakia, doesn't make it English). In that same vein, I do enjoy my P...

Amazed I just found this place
Just stopping by the say hello and introduce myself. I can't believe I only recently found out about this site. Here's why: -- I've been a pipe smoker since I was 17 (~12 years) -- I've been a inux user since 2006 (I've gone through Ubuntu, Arch, Debian, Crunchbang, now I'm just roasting my own from...
