yup :D
classic film :)
We watched "The green knight" which was OK.
I may have googled a few reviews/explainers which helped make more sense of it than I was getting.
Great shots, good acting, weird plot (but then so was the book lol)

Re: EDC, gadgets and gear stuff
Thanks Slob I knew you would come in with some of that Apple Knowhow :D I have no idea about mosyle. I do Know that it hasn't interfered (so far) with my admittedly left field choices on stuff and method of install :D pretty sure it can be tweaked. We don't (for the moment) enforce a lot really. We ...

Re: EDC, gadgets and gear stuff

I got the old X1 out the other day, still up to date with debian and i3 :) The screen (from 2012) looked like a bad photocopy ...

Re: TV series
We watched "The English" on Iplayer. Thought it was very good. It was a kinda classic western with some more modern ideas over 6 episodes.
Loverly scenery and acting we thought was top notch.

Re: VPN and DNS Nonsense
I'll not pretend to understand all of this thread :D But I wsa listening to a podcast (cyber by VICE) and they were talking about ISPs trading data, with various organisations, which reveals the netflow data, which I presume includes your initial connection to the ISP - before you jump to the VPN? T...

Re: VPN and DNS Nonsense
I happen to have a VPS - so I use that with rtorrent - never had any DCMAs.
I d/l at ethernet speeds... then download back down from there to the home server to view on the TV. It does need a lot of maintenance though.
So yeah it's not perfect as anything would lead right back to me.

Awesome Ivan! I was happy to point out what I thought was the start - but did not want to get the thread cutters out (I've never done it ) :D
Looks great.
Gutterslob, perhaps yes leave as the natural evolution of the thread. Definitely better broken out though - nice work !

Seems like a clean cut to me? From here https://linuxbbq.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=965&start=1480#p63896 onwards really. Perhaps the OP(s) could collate the excellent info already here, once in a new thread? I know the principles of all this, just can't be fucked to do it as in actually im...

Passengers (2016)
Was a good, not too hard to understand, friday night family friendly film. Better with a couple of beers for full suspension of disbelief.

Re: DNS and shit [WIP]
I honestly give a lecture to anyone who will listen at work about DNS being 'pulled' and the TTL It's not too hard once you see the picture. just need to open you mind a but to the strangeness of the picture. I've liken it in the past to a group of mates, if one of them changes their phone number an...

Another thing with DNS is propagation.
I watched a long time ago a video :

which is still, while rambling, is still the best video I've ever seen about DNS.
