Re: Why BBQ?

Heard rumours that Machinebacon had been released from the re-education centre and was back in the "real" world, so came to have a look. Pleasantly surprised to see the BBQ forums still going, with so many familiar faces - hi everyone! And especially hello to King Bacon! It's been quite a ...

Re: fill your mp3 player with a random mix

...sigh...

What if the files came from elsewhere originally, like out of an rar archive? Are we obliged to sanitize them before putting in our music directory?

Solid systems shouldn't break over something like spaces or linebreaks. (Of course on Unix forward slashes in filenames are not allowed.)

Re: Shoutcast + radionomy search with recording option

Radionomy have changed their web interface a bit, breaking query_radionomy() in version 3.0. Luckily it just requires curl to follow a redirect, using the -L option. Be sure to get version 3.1 above, from the code or download the file.

Code: Select all

cat -b </path/to/file/>
will do it too. Or cat -n for all lines.

Re: The Sounds Around

Don't know if this is good or easy but ffmpeg can make a video from an mp3 plus image. Googling found this: http://www.labnol.org/internet/useful-ffmpeg-commands/28490/ but running his command got I errors (on Wheezy), and a suggestion to use avconv instead, which worked! avconv -loop 1 -i african\ ...

Re: BBQradio streams go here

Radio stream urls come and go, they seem to die off pretty quickly. If you get a long list of urls to check out it's quite a chore to send each one to mpg123 and see if it will play, and then decide if you like it. This little script speeds it up a bit. The url list needs to have the urls at the beg...

Re: Shoutcast + radionomy search with recording option

I'm afraid you mpg123-abhorrers are going to have to grit your teeth and put up with it. mpg321 doesn't have a --fifo option so couldn't be substituted here. (hair tearing, garment rending) Image

Re: Shoutcast + radionomy search with recording option

Shoutcast changed their interface, breaking the script's search function. However, a fix was not too hard - the query goes via a POST request to http://www.shoutcast.com/Search/UpdateSearch and fetches back a JSON file instead of html. The good news is that you get a lot more results - maybe all of ...

Re: Post your Command line tricks

(Hi again http://s29.postimg.org/7frk3lgjn/wavey.gif ) Shuffle an array. I googled this but all the solutions seemed overcomplicated. If you have 'shuf' available, then the simplest way seemed to be to shuffle the indices of the array, not the elements. The indices are just simple integers, so the a...
