Re: TV series

Nothing prepares me for what I saw in Hannibal season 1. it's cheesy at times, and the amount of gore rivals that of Ash vs Evil Dead, but delivered in a strangely beautiful (and unsettling) way. Thanks for the recommendation gents.

Onward to second season.

Re: EDC, gadgets and gear stuff

^ what he said, plus the x1 i have is from the 2014. From 2015 onwards they normalize the keyboards and the touchpad too, but they still lost the ability to press_to_select (from the nub / clit) and the keyboard won't look like the one in classic Thinkpad. 2014 Thinkpads are the worst thinkpad ever,...

Re: EDC, gadgets and gear stuff

Maybe - you have to pay it back though :D Yeah that's the fun part. The i7 on this one isn't as powerful as the i7 on the third gen. I think the ones in x230 / t430s are a bit faster cpu wise than this. Plus the Intel recent shenanigans, make me wish AMD roll up business grade laptops, heard they a...

Re: EDC, gadgets and gear stuff

^^ Currency stuff -- I don't really follow what's what and who's who on my country recent inflation rate and currency collapse, so i don't really know what's causing it other than the obvious gross overspending by the gov't, racking up debts in RMB, USD, GBP, JPY, and prolly Arab money as well. With...

Re: EDC, gadgets and gear stuff

^ well it's because my currency (IDR) fluctuated a lot against USD lately. To give you some idea: 1,650,000 IDR equals $110 today, and almost $118 just a few days ago. Not my fault the economy collapsing

I agree that's a stupid keyboard.

Re: EDC, gadgets and gear stuff

Recently acquired: Thinkpad X1 Carbon 2nd gen (2014). The previous owner didn't like it one bit, left the thing gathering dust at his house. So i bought it, for $110 it's not a bad deal i guess. The touchbar doesn't look perfect, but it works in linux (with a bit of hair pulling). Keyboard is weird,...

I've been struggling a lot recently using Embarcadero RAD (delphi! ugh, business logic is tied to the form nyehhh!) to build cross platform (Windows, Droid, iOS) app. Defo not my own choice, but the project l...

Re: newtab

^ Just a half-assed frontend guy here :). I also think that on mobile at least, choose column as flex direction, since it's not that practical to use row on it. At least that's almost always my go-to ways when building web frontend stuff.

Looking pretty, Manu!

Could use some media queries on its font size like: /* assuming you set your default minimum font-size to 12px, works nicely on mobile browser as well */ @media screen and (min-width: 540px) { * { font-size: calc(12px + 8 * ((100vw - 540px) / 1080)) !important; } } and you can delete all those font-...

Re: What are you actually running for daily/primary usage?

I've been using kitty to replace alacritty as my default terminal emulator. It's blazing fast, but not exactly lightweight.

Also trying a lot of alternative editors out there like kakoune or vis. So far so good, i like them both.

Nice scrot there chef, been a long time since i use dwm. I'm all for fullscreen stuff these days.

Scrotwm used to be my go to wm after i saw Slob's insanely beautiful scrot http://dotshare.it/dots/337/. Damn that was 6 years ago, time sure flies.

Lately, I've been eyeing and reading a good amount of docs about ChibiOS, ordered a few stm32 boards and see if i can create something useful out of it, or just learn new stuff since my only experience with anything like this is the AVR stuff in college.
