Re: New APT removes kernels

^ That is something I somehow never experienced but then I did not use Ubuntu long enough back in the day. On sid I guess I would still prefer not getting older kernels autoremoved by default, especially from one major version to another. On stable I could not care less as you only stay on one versi...

the one i'm hammering on now was a B grade.
I always said or thought I would not take refurbished hardware that said B grade but I am typing on one. Though I did not take a look what C grade means.

Re: IBM/Lenovo ThinkPads

nice site. so... spanish keybs are qwerty? that's pretty nice. Indeed. German is qwertz and I always have to change muscle memory when I switch laptops. The article is very good. It describes exactly how I think about hardware purchases and obsolescence. Of course there will be people that need new...

Re: Random Internet Thread

Right now I have 12 pinned. Only god knows how many tabs I have open. When I had weak hardware I did not have pinned tabs at all and the maximum was maybe 8 tabs and I always closed everything, I also switched the laptop off. Now everything stays how it is and if the browser gets closed it remembers...

Re: linux-image-4.19.0-13-amd64

Hey Wux. Yep, the email system is still broken so I do not get it that fast, patiently waiting for a fix. :) :) But do not worry. I was preoccupied with Christmas and family video conferences. I only use some of the backports for essential packages and usually never go with a backported kernel but r...

A nice article about love for old hardware, especially Thinkpads, and lightweight Linux, even 32 bit. He should definitely switch to Debian. https://solar.lowtechmagazine.com/2020/12/how-and-why-i-stopped-buying-new-laptops.html Edit: The site is solar powered so it could go offline, so try to get b...

Re: linux-image-4.19.0-13-amd64

Funny that this happens on Debian stable. I cannot report back because I switched already months ago to the backported more recent kernels in Debian. I also have iwlwifi and it is indeed Intel specific and I have them on Thinkpads, Dells and HPs. In Debian it comes from non-free. I would file the bu...

I still have bottles of wine and even more beer to enjoy this January. Now is the time for the festi...

Re: What's your uname?

That is why I am trying Jellyfin. It is definitely lighter but also has less polish apart from being open source. One of my Pi's will definitely stay with Kodi on top of LibreELEC. It can also stream.

Re: What's your uname?

You own the RPI4, cool. How is Plex running on the Pi? I only tried it on a laptop. I found it great but at one point it started to analyze the loudness of my tracks and never got finished (the CPU almost fried the poor laptop) and I gave up. But I already have all tracks of my huge library with the...

We are basically locked down and cannot even go outside or see anyone else except close family that we do not have here.* Funny and sad. If I want to go out and have a run I can do that even with a buddy that again I do not have right now. Sorry for the rant and merry Christmas regardless. :) I will...

I encountered this on Bandcamp. A beautiful album. It is kind of spacey Shoegaze with some 90s vibes, very atmospheric.
