Re: What terminal font do you use?

I use urxvt with the following priority list:

* Monospace: -misc-tamsyn-medium-r-normal-*-20-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1
* Japanese characters: [codeset=JISX0208]xft:IPAGothic:antialias=false (best glyphs at small font sizes, I've found)
* Fallback (for weird glyphs): DejaVu Sans

Re: Messenger for desktop

For facebook messenger, there is messenger.com, an official web interface. Considering the resource requirements of that 3rd-party messenger hack, a browser could be even learner. I don't use facebook though so what do I know. Ironically, Google Hangouts's video chat does only work flawlessly in Fir...

Re: Favorite programming language(s)

C (-std=c99 or -std=gnu99) and Lua.

It seems these will be joined by racket (Lisp/Scheme family) soon. I have been learning and using it for 2 months or so now and found it to be much nicer than Haskell ;) The library situation is great too.

Re: post your custom dmenu

that looks really nice actually. most useful when using a floating window setup i imagine. Actually I'm going to use it with dwm. Because my new display is very high-res (ok, just 1920x1080) and larger I find it quite pleasant that the menu pops up not at the upper/lower margings but in a somewhat ...

Re: post your custom dmenu

Does source code customization also count? If yes, there's now dmenuv , the gravitating dmenu with custom menu width and screen alignments ("gravity"). Displayed in the attached screenshot is the bunsen-exit-ng exit dialog (or whatever-you-configure-it-to-be-dialog) to exemplify its use. T...

The Debian installer (in advanced mode or-what-is-it-called) with a netinstall is IMHO the Best Thing Ever.

Re: BOOK! (Hardcopy edition)

Once again, I ventured out to grasp yet another idea of Western European philosophy and thought. It is magnificent: however, I do not whether whether an English translation exists that is even remotely on par with this very fine piece of writing; to-day, one can only seldom find a new book (I haven'...
