Re: HOWTO: Quick Git Guide

Thanks for yet another tasty guide, Bacon.

I've been looking for a quick n' dirty, no bullshit rundown like this for a while now.

I also enjoyed 'Git Happens' to wrap my brain around Git in general, including the lesser known features:

Re: Emacs tips and tricks

@DrChroot: I'm really grooving to Spacemacs, too. :) Since I hafta use vi/vim a lot anyway, evilmode is kind of a no-brainer. But if you're coming from years of vanilla emacs bindings, the evil-centric philosophy is obvious heresy. Also, the layer based configuration is different enough that it's pr...

^ Ohhh yeah, I remember seeing that one, ages ago. And it does look tasty indeed.

I gotta dig up some 64-bit hardware this weekend to put it through its paces.

Re: Wish a spin...

How 'bout a BBQ based audio recording spin? Kinda like a debloated A/V Linux? - base : Debian - architecture : 32-bit low-latency with fake-PAE (for muh ancient Pentium M) - WM/DE : OpenBox - Programs : Non DAW, JACK, and some CLI music / audio utils like ffmpeg, mpsyt, tuna, even throw in supercoll...

Re: Why did Linux pick you? And why did Sid?

^^Whoa, Snap. Are you me? Once I discovered Openbox tiling, I just couldn't go back to OSX. . . Am I supposed to install some sketchy shareware deal to "enhance" the finder? Then watch it get abandoned, be un-fixable -- often at the expense of stability & compatibility? Nah. So, basica...

Re: fun with trash

No sweat, darry. It's all good fun around the grill. :) It was a serious pain to get MintPPC on it in the first place. "Open Firmware" my ass. I've got half a mind to disembowel the fucker and just drop a NUC in there, but the goddam display connector is proprietary, too! It's shit like th...

Re: fun with trash

Yes. This thread is relevant to my interests. Here we have a gorgeous chrome plated turd from Cupertino. Right now it's got Mint PPC on it and it can't even use the proprietary CD/DVD writer. Fun fact: it also runs slower than dirt. So slow, in fact, that I doubt there's much future in running linux...
