Re: polkit in Greatest Hits

Thanks for clarifying. I understand you. I think there will be no troubles, but I'll confirm when I create and try the ISO.

Re: polkit in Greatest Hits

ivanovnegro thank you. I was afraid that by installing shim and systemd, will make systemd my init system, which did not happen. I only have to try making the iso, after some more tweaking... I hope by just being installed (systemd) it will not create problems (MB said we are on our own! if we insta...

Re: polkit in Greatest Hits

I said that both ways are not without future trouble probably. Didn't try any of those yet. But the devuan repo seems a bit safer way to go. I'll report back when I find the time to try it.

polkit in Greatest Hits

MB, I do not need it at all, but I want to be able to suspend, reboot and shutdown from the LXDE's exit menu. I also want to use gvfs from pcmanfm etc. So it seems to me that I do need it... Not to mention a stupid error message about PID whenever I login!

polkit in Greatest Hits

Alas, I have problems trying to keep systemd outside the system.... Fucking policykit-1 dependencies! I have installed a minimal LXDE. Which of the two possible solutions shouId I follow (although I am not very happy using any of those repos): http://without-systemd.org/wiki/index.php/How_to_install...

Re: linuxbbq based on stable branch

Okay, bad news. The live ISO does not boot, it bails out where the new mounting options for the live ISOs were integrated and falls to initramfs prompt. This is exactly the reason why Debian Jessie does not work with BBQ tools. Wheezy probably already works, but not lame-ass Jessie. Sorry to disapp...

Re: linuxbbq based on stable branch

I wanted to have the simplicity of your tools.... "bbqinstall /dev/sda /dev/sda2" is as K.I.S.S. as it gets! I guess I could try the refracta. Thank you very much for your help machinebacon. I hope this week I could get some time for the Academy partition. The thing is that although I am f...

Re: linuxbbq based on stable branch

Due to time limitations (I have a beautiful daughter of 7months), I can't proceed with my plans... Is there an easy way to at least install on top of my debian stable intallation the bbqsnapshot tool and all the requirements/dependencies in order to create a easy snapshot which could be installed as...

Re: linuxbbq based on stable branch

I noticed the lessons in the Academy release notes and installed it... WOW. You really write a very good tutorial. I am too sleepy now, but tomorrow I will proceed by first "stabilizing" to jessie the install and then go through the lessons. Great work. I just love FOSS and seeing that not...

Re: New member - Denethor

I have been reading the crunchbang forums for years, sometimes many hours during a day. They were the best forums IMO. Never registered though. That was the reason, I mean now I am posting during the working hours. Forums are quite addictive like the multiplayer games and earlier IRC channels...

Re: New member - Denethor

Well the site is Chinese and I am Greek, so no I did not. :-) I tried almost anything just to try it. I always come back to lxde... From the bigger desktops I like KDE but I wish it was more modular... I really like to have only what I need installed and nothing more. Even the bbq releases are "...

New member - Denethor

Hi to everybody. I am an intermediate linux user. I've distrohoped a lot when I didn't have a job. I like what you are doing here. I found out about you from the crunchbang forums last year. I use win7 at work. I am a civil engineer so win is a must due to the absence of apps in linux. I use mainly ...

Re: linuxbbq based on stable branch

A question for machinebacon. Do you plan in the near time a new release (based on sid)? I would give it try but with the recent transitions, I do not want to try the older releases. Anyway, it would be great if you could release some .deb files or scripts to easily transform a netinstall to linuxbbq...
