Re: RYO: Greatest Hits (586) Release Notes

I can see how my post is unclear and strange. Sorry about that. Wux got my basic intent right.

Re: Obligatory Happy New Year (2016) Thread

Back from the beach, and the Champagne is chilling. It's a New Year's tradition in Charleston to make Hoppin' John, which is field peas (cowpeas) and rice seasoned with bacon. My wife will start cooking that shortly. I've enjoyed bacon-flavored Linux these past few months. Learned more from the gril...

Re: NOX: Anorexia (586)

Got the swm+wmutils thing working. Building it all from a no-X base was more complicated then I expected.

It's all very basic, but basic works for me. The browser is surf, the background is my local beach.

Cool. Something to play with this holiday weekend. Got a raw swm+wmutils thing I want to finish cooking on top of it. Thanks, mb!

Peace to all.

^ Sim & Wux: I went to school for a year in Bristol way back a million years ago (got my A-levels there). An old schoolmate, Dom Pipkin, plays New Orleans music in the London area with his band, Dom Pipkin & the Ikos. Many of those events are tied to Louisiana-style food. Some of that cookin...

^^ My favorite local place is here: https://www.melvinsbbq.com/

you can order sauces and spice rubs from them. They are superb. Recommend the mustard-based sauce, a specialty of the Carolinas.

for anyone curious, that looks like it's this place: http://littlepigsbbq.net/

in Asheville, North Carolina -- a fun mountain town about 3 hours drive from me. But I can get good bbq at a half dozen places just like that right here

Re: Distros of interest

^^ yes, indeed thanks mb. Just started playing with spectrwm and I like it a lot. "Sane defaults" is right. it's got a very clear and comprehensive man page, too. dwm was the first tiler I ever learned about (all of six months ago) and got comfortable using, so it's been my default. time t...

^^ debian package, through the package importer (sce-import). I'm using the plain-debian iso (dCore-jessie.iso), not any of the various ubuntu images. I'm still new at this sort of thing, so I've never tried installing dwm through git even on a normal system. I'll get around to it at some point.
