Re: Movies, Flicks, Films, Videos, cinematography

I am a sucker for movies and documentaries about rock climbing. Apart from going to the mountains with my bike and also running and hiking there I still do some bouldering, even though I reduced it. So I watched this Netflix anime and really liked it. The Summit of Gods . Recently I also watched Gas...

Re: At the tobacconist

^ I always thought flakes or ready-rubbed blends would be too moist/sticky and not burn properly when rolled in a stick. Haven't smoked RYO since sometime just before the first Coronalockdown started. That is true at first but they are even too wet to be smoked from the tin even for pipes. That is ...

Re: At the tobacconist

First of all, I no longer smoke cigarettes and that means no RYO anymore. I cannot remember since when, I think around 2018. That said I still enjoy pipe smoking and that exclusively even if less regular. So I was never into blending pipe tobacco with regular shag etc but my father used to do that. ...

^ I still remember playing Street Fighter when I was a kid. I know what you mean about wasting time in front of a console for hours but I am still or better said newly just a casual gamer. Between work, running and mountain biking there are no more hours left for the rest of the day and I still do t...

^ Speaking of games, we just received the PS4 Pro for Christmas, yep. It is really ages that I was gaming at all. Not that I am really gaming that much yet but with lock downs and all this bullshit it is a pleasure to have something more do at home and it supports 4k for our Blu-rays that the DVD pl...

Re: Movies, Flicks, Films, Videos, cinematography

It is always interesting to see a summary of the year's movies by Manu. Verhoeven's flick is a must see for me.

And on a side note, because it is not worth more as that in my opinion. I bought the the Blu-Ray of Dune and can only say, meeeeeh. Nice picture but no content, no characters.

Tomorrow comes my mother-in-law with my better half back from Spain. We will spend Christmas together. Other than that it is/was pretty shitty...

Happy holidays anyway if they let you celebrate.

Is Westworld any good? I watched 4 episodes, but it seems like Lost all over again, meaning 1000 different plots going everywhere.
Some years back I watched the first episode and could not even finish that one.

^ There are two great places in Germany, https://www.lapstore.de/f.php/shop/lapstore/lang/de/ and http://www.luxnote-hannover.de/. Though prices are higher since 'Rona. But you can find them also on eBay. All of this is about used hardware. Then there are https://www.gebrauchtcomputer24.de/notebooks...

Re: IBM/Lenovo ThinkPads

Did they just swap the keys caps over ? The Polish guy did that I am sure of it. No biggy. The Spanish keyboard is also QWERTY so I am used to it. I saw this and thought what a cool idea. Pretty cool (as in large) price as well :) https://hackaday.com/2021/11/27/replacement-motherboard-brings-new-l...

I think you mean 21.10? And yes, Ubuntu uses its own customizations on top of Gnome. It is not vanilla like e.g. in Fedora.

Re: Something to celebrate? Do it here!

Celebration time again, as seen elsewhere I ´ve got a promotion at work. Yey, more work and responsibility, but different from before so at the moment I feel very good about it. Let us see how I feel three months from now? ;) And one more thing to celebrate, I completely forgot about it. Shame on m...

Re: Distros of interest

I use Super-<left/right arrow> to tile the floating windows, usually. Yep, that is what I do on Xfce. :) Anyway all my shortcuts resemble most of the defaults on spectrwm or dwm with some exceptions. I can still use Xfce or even another DE and all WMs with the same shortcuts and feel at home.
