Re: The Future of amd64 spins

@ DebianJoe An M1 Abrams has around 1500 HP, whereas a Formula One racer comes in a bit under 1000. Which is faster? The round coming out of the 105 mm L52 M68 rifled cannon (M1) that destroyed the F1 hahahahahaha And that isn't a fair comparison at all. An M1 weighs a couple of pounds more than an...

Re: The Future of amd64 spins

OK, I used 64 because ... I have a 64bit AMD Athlon x3. I did some searching and found a few things that really hit home. 64bit - graphics/scientific/mathematical/number crunching is best If not from what I see the difference is minimal and even a PAE kernel 'may' in some cases be slower in the 32bi...

Re: OK, where's the coffee?

Guess i need to pay more attention to the image threads. After looking at those images i cant decide which is my fav, i think maybe number 3, as it shows the internals. It is a modified version of: http://postimg.org/image/gtp84orux/ and since I don't like 'white' backgrounds I changed it to: http:...

WOW! Just saw the screen shot of Beer! Takes me back to early DOS days!

I had a chance to have linux installed on my computer in the 90's by a friend that used it ... I really should have and today I kick myself in the ass when I think about it!

@ Titan - Oh I have posted a lot. I recently changed monitors and went from 1280x1024 to 1920x1080 so had to start over. I only have a dozen or so today. Re: HOWTO: Debian netinstall

OK I don't think I worded that right ... I too used the "Expert Install". I was wondering about the part that this is more dangerous that a regular distro Live CD install. If I recall, it still uses gparted to select partitions and installs Grub in the same manner as a Live*. Just a thought.

Re: OK, where's the coffee?

@SexyThing11 Conky in cli-mode is actually pretty light, plus most WM statusbars can pipe conky-cli output without much hassle or memory penalty. Depending on output, a conky-cli for say, 10 variables piped to dzen2 could be lighter (memory wise) than piping the ouutput of 10 separate .sh scripts t...

Re: HOWTO: Debian netinstall

Please don't do this on a production machine, on your girlfriend's machine, or anywhere you can't bork. Breaking a netinstall is not bad -- it will teach you lots of things just installing a pre-built spin will not, but you don't want to break your main install today. Only one computer here, two of...

not sure if this helps any, there are *no* keybd - or any other issues - using the CLI BBQinstaller (As root, obviously) OH! I'll add that to the list of things to do! Q: when using that as root ... is the user added to the sudoers (?) list? Something I'm not fussy about. My wife and I share the sa...
