Re: TV series

Sex Education First two episodes of season 4 are by far the worst of the entire show so far. I have the feeling the brilliant chemistry is now lost, maybe because some characters are gone and we are introduced to new ones, or maybe it's because behind the camera the crew has changed a bit and it sh...

Re: Movies, Flicks, Films, Videos, cinematography

Man of the West Now this is Anthony Mann as how I like him. Tobe Hooper must have known something about it, I'm sure. London Boulevard Now, this goes pretty much nowhere for most of the time, but 1) I can't resist cockney accent and 2) I can't resist Knightley. The thing is this film tries too hard...

Re: musics, bitches

New Sufjan Stevens is out and I hadn't listened to it yet. The man seems to be back at its Michigan and Chicago days, which is great news even though Carrie & Lowell is still pretty special to me.

Bend of the River
This is now hailed as one of the greatest westerns ever made, but it didn't really click for me.

Re: TV series

Sex Education
Right in the middle of season 2, I can just say this is really well written and enjoyable. So many themes that may seem trivial are dealt with the right balance of humour and seriousness. Even when you can predict how some subplots are going to develop it's still a pleasure.

^ Your thing, yes, check it out.

Ulzana's Raid
Dark, gritty. Pretty much one of the best westerns I've even seen.

Silverado
Wow, I thought this was a pretty enjoyable ride when I was kid but nowadays I find it just long and boring. I couldn't even sit to the end.

Re: musics, bitches

^ By the way, I totally missed the storm around her puberty blockers burst and her following comment on X. I don't know, I have mixed feelings about this, even though I always tell myself the artist is one thing and the person behind them is another. The record seems rather gorgeous, though, so this...

New Roisin Murphy is finally here (I know it took me a while). Today I'll be all ears on this, and report back.

^ Not sure if I'd go with it, but it reminded me that the next Ubuntu LTS will probably need some careful consideration from me, because snap is going to be more and more relevant and I'm not sure I want to deal with it.

Vera Cruz
If you've never seen a Robert Aldrich's film before, I'd suggest you start right here.

Red Sundown
Jack Arnold is not a director I'd consider among the ones I love going back to, but I had never seen this one before and it's just a good old solid western.

Sick of Myself
From Norway with love? Quite the contrary. Kristoffer Borgli uses satire to reflect on what vanity has become today and he is not interested in taking prisoners. Watching this sitting next to people who enjoy social media stars may be worth just to hear their opinion at the end.

4 episodes in and I think this is perfect for me after a long day of work and books, especially if dinner is late in the evening and I just need one hour to chill.

Re: Movies, Flicks, Films, Videos, cinematography

I don't know why, exactly, but I felt like going through some of my Al Pacino's favourite performances, so this week I've been busy with: - The Godfather Trilogy : part II is still my favourite, but part I is such an amazing experimentation with rhythm and narration in commercial cinema. Coppola was...

The Batman
I don't know, to me it seems like this looks at Nolan's films to give a similar take on a different source material. And just as with Nolan's, it lacks the epic tragedy vibe Snyder was able to find. And yes, Pfeiffer is still my favourite Catwoman.
