Custom combo keybindings

I can't promise this will work for all WMs. I got the info from a dwm page and it works in 2wm. So I'm lazy and wanted my Super key only pseudo "Whisker Menu" regardless of Window Manager... (Alt+P is one key too many for my dmenu!) https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/dwm#Customizing_conf...

Re: [THE 1st TIME] Our own login manager

Yea, I had tried logout, quit from terminal. Both of those say "use exit" Type exit and it just closes that terminal only. I tried all of those things yesterday on 2wm and openbox (assuming maybe 2wm's shortcuts overrided Ctrl+Alt+Bksp but they might still work in openbox? nope) pkill -9 X...

Re: [THE 1st TIME] Our own login manager

Ok, trying to test bbqlogin, I realize I can't seem to kill x-sessions... ctrl-alt-bksp is in my .xinitrc as killx, but doesn't work. sudo killall x, stop, stop service, etc don't seem to work either. Most say "x: no processes found" All google searches seem to report these same "solu...

Re: 2WM

Thanks Pidsley. You don't have to look things up for me. I was just seeing if I kinda understood the jist of what his script did. I bookmarked all those pages. I plan on reading up on those subjects at some point. Just so many relevant to my situiation topics at once lately :D Thanks dkeg, idiot-pro...

Learning REAL Linux

One minute I feel like I'm doing good, the next minute, everything is way over my head again... I've used Windows my whole life. Know just enough to fix whatever my family and friends break. Used Linux approx 9 months. Went from LinuxMint Cinnamon -> BBQ tiling WM in that time, so I do think I'm abs...

Re: *Solved* 2wm Make Install

Thought I'd just continue here vs a new post. So my netbook has weird volume shortcuts: -vol = FN + 3 +vol = FN + 4 These actually worked in Break with Openbox (the only distro to do so), so I assumed it was related to 4.2.0-trunk-586 kernel. Since installing and running 2wm, these shortcuts no long...

Re: 2WM

^That went way over my head, lol! Not sure what $PATH is. Does this script have to have a specific name or specific location to run properly? Or does it just function of the internal paths you specified within the script(dir=where 2wm install file lives, file=look in <-dir for config.h)? I don't kno...

Re: 2wm Make Install

You can always check to see what's different using "diff": diff config.default.h config.h I installed on USB Break yesterday as practice. Installing on Actual HD Break today. Got the same long list of keybinding errors. Turns out the config.h that is included in unzip folder is full of th...

Re: *SOLVED* SPECTRWM- I can't see....

I'm surprised how quickly I'm learning here. I went from wanting Gnome -> XFCE4 will work -> openbox -> 2wm in about 3 weeks, lol. Viva la Tiling Window Manager! Ironically my new setup is almost a complete inverse font colors from noo_b_nomnoms scrot here. Gotta love obnoxious neon 90's color theme...

Re: 2wm Make Install

Final note:
Most colors are sourced from current dkeger choice on install. Main terminal colors are however overwritten by config.h under #define KEYS BG and FG hex color choices there.

Ok, thanks. Just seem to have been breaking this for over a week now. Trying to be cautious now that I'm close. Building from source has turned out harder than expected, or just really bad luck for a first attempt.

Re: 2wm Make Install

Yea, I have a backup folder for copies of everything before I change any file. Kinda nice they include a default backup file for you though. I saw it, but made my own out of habit. Restored original. Looks the same, but I'm guessing there was an accidental space or something added somewhere... 2wm M...

^Nice. Thanks pidsley. Completely forgot that. Might have saved me when I accidentally blacked out my terminal, mc, and nano with custom .Xresources_colors yesterday. Thankfully I had thunar to find and copy over. :D Sorry to hijack, but might as well ask here. Are TMUX terminals via ctrl-alt-F2 imm...

Re: SPECTRWM- I can't see....

I don't know much about modifying scripts yet. I will say this though: BEFORE editing anything you're unsure of, make a backup file folder and copy things in there before editing. I change the file name once copied: Originalfilename(home-user-blah-blah)backup.whatever So I know its default name and ...

Re: Installing BBQ to a USB drive.

I was hoping to find some kind of pattern with what makes installs more likely to pass or fail. Maybe save other newbies frustration... Sadly, its been random hit or miss accross all BBQ flavors. I will say persistance is the only thing I've learned. Some versions may take 4 tries to install, doing ...

Re: Electronic sounds thread

I grew up on 90's techno on mtv. I've had a hard time getting into newer stuff like dubstep. Once I stepped back in time and found Scientist and other Reggae Dub; I prefer that over most music today. It's like techno where I can leave it in the background while being productive, but has a chill regg...
