^^ I never had any USB devices pre UUID so I don't notice the difference. But if they make it useful - OK ... but in the background. :)

Just a butt-kick into the right direction :D {ouch} That's what I like about baconator - subtle to the core. :D I think of everything I see up there nano will probably be where I go. Plus it has the little cheat lines at the bottom (^x Exit etc). I have used it with various sudo commands ... vi(m) ...

Re: [SOLVED] fstab, chown or chmod - A partition
@ Pidsly - {ding} You should be using a swap file! {ding} Mine (unused) is 4GB left over from when I had 2GB RAM ... it was used a bit then. I bought 4GB more for 6GB and now it's not used not mounted. @ machinebacon My opinion on a shared /home partition: don't. - - I agree ... I did once ... long ...

@bizcuit sda6 (/) & sda7 (/home) now have an OS installed and are no longer mounted. And all it mounts extra is /media/5 that ALL OS's mount and use. [align=center] http://s20.postimg.org/slffrwbnt/2013_08_29_20_21_22_802x409_Sector11.jpg [/align] @ pidsley - I got past the 'swap' problem, my ma...

Re: [SOLVED] fstab, chown or chmod - A partition
RE: udisks2 - Well ain't that just adding 1984 to freedom! GRRRRR! Everything I use is Debian - the cover may not say Debian, but the repos do. Not like some distros that have a 'box|repo' name but claim to be Debian. Now over on the Debian forums this will not be recognized so I have no problem ben...

default bakewell conky for sector11's sake hahaha about the only thing I'll do to that conky (at first) is change the font - to match my all text conky. http://s20.postimg.org/tpmj0kf7t/2013_08_29_19_20_10_253x965_Sector11.jpg not for hardcore "terminal font" lovers. Oh ... and stop (or d...

@ pidsley
AHA! Now I know why /media/disk/ became /media/sector11/disk/
I had to change a 'few' bash scripts over that and 'The Sound of Cursing"
I've been playing the role of 'The Sound of Cursing" looking for what I did wrong with that.

Hiya's Sector ! Welcome to the grill. So glad you babbled ... very informative. It's ".txt"ed now to be available in the future. I've read this someplace, not exact words obviously, you however cleared some things up. When I get a chance to fine tooth comb this if I have doubts I'll bend ...

Hi John ...
Oops! I didn't realize there was a "hard link" as such. OK, that's not what I meant, it's the noob in me, I mean if a file is at ~/xyz/foobar I want to use ~/xyz/foobar. Food for thought, I'll have to look up hard/sym links.

Re: From Debian & Co. to BBQ
^ The smxi script is an example. It will ask about adding Liquorix sources even if it is in .d/liquorix.list instead of sources.list. (One can always say no, though) Guess they can't build a script that recognizes both. I've seen the: You are using a format smix does not recognize. You will have to...

Re: From Debian & Co. to BBQ
apt-cache rdepends libgtk2.0-0 Darkside is a fork/port of the real Waldorf, it comes 'upstream' with gtk3. If you want to go no-GTK3, you take something of the last 2 months, most of it (like 90%) is gtk2 or even no-gtk (yes, actually all things released in August, like Bakewell, Sauce, Pidsley, Ca...

Re: From Debian & Co. to BBQ
@johnraff. The removal of a directory with 'rm -rf' seems to be significantly easier than hand deleting specific lines in files. And 'mkdir' and 'cd' isn't really all that much different than navigating to an open line. I'm sure that it's a preference issue, as I would personally prefer to break fi...

Re: From Debian & Co. to BBQ
Haha sweet :) apt-cache rdepends libgtk-3-0 | more #or less or most About the .d stuff - I don't know/think it will be obsolete. It is really just a way to manage stuff easier, like ... eating with chopsticks :D Can't argue about the chopsticks idea. But a knife and fork is great for a good 2"...

Re: From Debian & Co. to BBQ
Yes yes, correct. It is the 'new' modular way with the .d folders and then separate lists. Same happened for /etc/network/interfaces.d, too IIRC. Sector, do it as you like. I found it easier to comment out in one file than to have five or six separate lists files, but - YMMV :) I am inclined to agr...

Re: From Debian & Co. to BBQ
OK with this: Make sure you have no duplicates in the sources.list.d files. If you come from a distro that contains gtk3-applications, you are advised to remove them before performing an update && dist-upgrade. The BBQ takes no responsibility if you burn your meat to a crisp. ... it drives m...

Nothing is really set in stone, tho, -Hinto Exactly. I mount things manually, so I put them where I want. I hate these stupid "rules" about where things are supposed to be mounted. ^ There is no reason to change them. It's your system, you can mount things wherever you want. Hmmm pidsley,...

Re: [SOLVED] fstab, chown or chmod - A partition
FWIW, /media is generally where say, cd/dvd, usb drives are mounted. /mnt, /net are generally automounter. (for nfs/afs locations) More "permanent" partitions are mounted somewhere meaningful. /data? Nothing is really set in stone, tho, -Hinto Yea I know about /mnt too. It's a super bad h...

Re: From Debian & Co. to BBQ
Nicely done machinebacon. From Debian & Co I thank you.
EDIT: A question
why /etc/apt/sources.list.d/bbq.list
and not just /etc/apt/sources.list ??
