Re: boruch's new guy post
^^^ Status bar on both screens. My monitors at work are identical and I feel like having one desktop 10-14 pixels taller would mess with the dark symmetry I try so hard to achieve. ...however at home my monitors are asymmetrical (one 22" widescreen and one 24" standard placed vertically), ...

Re: boruch's new guy post
Welcome! I run i3 on all my machines. It's productive at work on two monitors and stays out of my way (especially with vimperator on iceweasel, keyboard driven without a URL bar/menu)... and on my little 10.1" netbook screen it really helps with screen real-estate.

Re: Propaganda
Distrowatch says LinuxBBQ is made in China. I guess that's technically true, but probably doesn't help adoption. These days, anything made in China is assumed to be a backdoor with a router or OS built around it as a feature. Nice though, when people ask me what distro I run (and let's be honest, th...

Re: Advice on netbooks
I have a little HP Mini that I absolutely love. Mine's an ancient 210 model with a gig of RAM that I acquired in 2012 because it was too damaged to re-sell (bought it without a HDD with plans to put one in, image it, and flip)... but it's amazed me in daily use, especially on buses, trains and plane...

pianobar - Pandora Deluxe Elite Ultimate Edition Pro
Much like despotify, which was a Spotify client made by Swedish hackers... there's a package called "pianobar" which uses your Pandora account and Pandora servers (so all of your stations are there) except you get unlimited skips\nexts and no commercials . Best of all, it runs in the termi...

Do headless machines count? Ones without X installed on them, but that you would never (usually) hook a monitor up to anyway? I've got Adipositas on one machine on my homelab work desk's KVM that I switch over to sometimes, as I don't want to install even SSH on it... but I can name 4 regular-use ma...
