Re: Hi from Crunchbang and now Mint.

This is quite the awesome forum, I'm really liking the helpful positive attitude everyone seems to have and how lax this place is, all the bits of humor everywhere make it feel even better.
Should get a little tinker time in tonight, lets see what happens.

Re: Hi from Crunchbang and now Mint.

That's legit, I did try xmonad the other day, seemed a little more friendly than Ratpoison. How do you guys feel about tiling on a small screen? Most things end up full or near full just to see what's going on. I did have my Openbox hot keys set up for window management, resizing and moving with no ...

Re: Hi from Crunchbang and now Mint.

Ratpoison lasted an intense five minutes of frustration, might be a little to much to soon for me. I couldn't even figure out navigation, I can usually at least get that far. I'll start in known territory and fix what isn't broken until it works...

Re: Hi from Crunchbang and now Mint.

That was posted from in the Mint install. I now have two 32 bit versions downloading to play with. Neckbeard and Darkside. I had no idea some things were so universal like network connections. The biggest thing I want to learn at the moment now is installing and configuring a new window manager, til...

Re: Hi from Crunchbang and now Mint.

I'll try a whole install later, maybe first project will be a new wm, been wanting to try out a tiling wm but the usefulness may be lost on a 10" screen. ninja@S500CA ~ $ sudo lspci -nnk 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor DRAM Controller [8086:0154] (rev 09) Su...

Re: Hi from Crunchbang and now Mint.

I've never had to connect to a network in cli, that was interesting. My home network has spaces in it, I tried to replace the spaces with underscores but it then tells me network with that SSID not found. I'm pretty sure I used those same commands to try mounting my hdd but it didn't work, perhaps t...

Re: Hi from Crunchbang and now Mint.

And I'm online with it!
My home network has a long name with a couple spaces and stuff in it, nmcli didn't seem to like it, turned hotspot on my phone with a simple name and BAM! Now we're cookin'.

Re: Hi from Crunchbang and now Mint.

I'll admit, this seems like a silly problem to be having, connecting to a network has never given me this much problem before. Ceni doesn't seem to like me, wicd isn't an option as it's not installed; nmcli is the only one that seems to want to work. Ethernet gave me the same issues, might be a litt...

Re: Hi from Crunchbang and now Mint.

Got in. Seems good so far, touch screen and right click works(been my biggest issues so far) no super key on Windows button so far, I'd venture to guess easily fixable. I am however having no luck with Ceni, scans and finds my network, but all combinations of the DNS servers in the Cookbook don't ne...

Re: Hi from Crunchbang and now Mint.

Thanks for the welcomes! See, this is just the thing to make me not lazy, half ass usability and the rest has to be figured out.
Can't wait to spend more time here, seems like an awesome little place.

Hi from Crunchbang and now Mint.

Hi, been using Crunchbang for around two years or so, got a new laptop and #! didn't play well with my hardware, got lazy and tried Mint and it worked. Played more, tried #! moved over to testing, all hardware worked but broke all the software, still lazy so still on Mint. I'd really like to try out...
