Re: escargot install

Hello, try: gksudo live-installer or, if you want a very basic, CLI based ("expert") installer, sudo bbqinstaller Good luck! (Explanation: cli-installer was used for the first releases, this was replaced by bbqinstaller and bbqinstaller-gui -- these are still existing and can be used as in...

Re: Saltimbocca (Linux BBQ Base) Release News

^ Yes, the gnome-icon-theme is not installed because it is only suggested or recommended by apps and not a dependency (in the other releases only lightdm and network-manager-gnome depend on it, and network-manager-gnome is the dependency of network-manager-vpn, that's why it pulls in so many things)...

Re: Saltimbocca Installation bug?

Yes, Ikey is working on a new modular installer and I'm quite happy about it :) I admit I have no idea about UEFI and LVM and all that crap, but I also have other alternatives already (if things change) - just no time to test them.

Re: salti roaster crashing

That's not the problem, rho. The problem is that then the people with Atheros cards will complain, or those who get the card assigned as wlan1, or those who have a dongle :D

I have thought about the same, seriously, but you remember....

Re: Saltimbocca (Linux BBQ Base) Release News

A little update on the 486 version of Saltimbocca: right now it is not possible for me to build the 3.6 kernel for the 486 types due to some packages missing from upstream. If somehow possible, please choose to download the i686 version of Saltimbocca in the meanwhile or fix the login problem (login...

Re: salti roaster crashing

Nice :)

Guess how many bugreports there were filed in all different distros, that Wicd doesn't connect etc. etc. - and I just know it because I had the same problem in another distro. This is not the best GUI design, but I cannot do anything about it.

Re: salti roaster crashing

Have you entered 'wlan0' or 'ath0' into the Wicd preferences dialog? See 'cookbook'. I have right in this moment tested the (new) 486 spin on my netbook and Wicd first says that it doesn't find a network - until you manually enter the device name into the hidden (!) preferences dialog. After this, p...

Re: Saltimbocca (Linux BBQ Base) Release News

nice :)

I recommend the usage of

wget -c http://______

to download large files and ISO images. It automatically reconnects if a file is not fully downloaded. Another option is uget (uget-gtk) as graphical frontend.
These are more secure than using the browsers built-in downloaders.

Re: salti roaster crashing

real men download with wget: wget -c http://linuxbbq.org/releases/speckdrum/linuxbbq-0.6-speckdrum.iso It will pick up a lost connection with the '-c' option. Well I don't know what's wrong with your Roaster :) Radeon card, that's the same like rhowaldt's. Maybe he can report back if his Roaster bre...

Re: Saltimbocca Installation bug?

I'll try to put it (the separate /usr and /var) in the Salti 486 installer and send it up today. No guarantee it will be working, though. Have to fix something else for 486 anyway so it's a good time to 'throw it into the mix'. And dear Poet, the chances of getting LVM into the installer are around ...

Re: Saltimbocca Installation bug?

Hello and thanks for trying BBQ! 1) The installer is creating its own mount points, so "unfortunately" there is no way to get around it*. It creates a mount point, chroots into it, copies the files, and unmounts the chroot, adds it to GRUB. This is basically the same installer like in LMDE...

Re: salti roaster crashing

Hi Apprentice, yes, the roaster is like this at the moment. It is included in Saltimbocca to have at least something graphical to surf with until the user has decided which browser he wants to use. It's quite buggy when you have multiple tabs open, and that's why it was abandoned in the past. Right ...

Hello nazuk and welcome to the BBQ! The "Roast Your Own" way is the following: 1) you pick a base installation ISO first - it doesn't contain anything else than a Window Manager, a browser, an editor and a file manager. 2a) If you have Linux experience, the 'optimal' case it is this one: h...

Thank you for re-registering, the restore point was unfortunately a few days old and the 'forced upgrade' not only removed the messages of the last days, but also those users who registered in between.

Have a good stay with us ;)
