Re: Rofi - window switcher, run dialog and dmenu replacement

Thanks people, it works now. The problem was something in the Xresources (no idea what exactly, probably *.fonts) that made the rofi go white. It works with Snap's snippet.

otoh I don't see a big advantage over using dmenu(s) :)

Re: NEW SITE.

One question though: how can we see "unread posts/topics/forums"? In the past we had a different coloured icon, or in links/w3m it showed (Unread posts)" -- or unread ones were bold. If there's a way to link an existing icon set, I'd take an unsaturated one for read topics/forums and ...

I want to thank you wux for the new base. It's excellent. A bit of a "flat theme", love it! Also speed has drastically increased. Yum!

Re: Newsletter?

^ yes, if they have dvips and postscript and all that crap installed. I mean, originally the plaintext newsletter would not contain graphics, so why not simply exporting txt to PDF or reading it straight from source without additional steps :) or we take rhow's idea and write it in plaintext -> conv...

Re: Mate, show me your screenshot!

Absolutely, you can get the mate-desktop-core (I think that's the name) and stay with sysvinit, connect with ifup and mount they other drives in fstab. And then ... go back to spectrwm half an hour later :D

Sir, it will be in troff format so you can "man issue1" ;)

Re: Mate, show me your screenshot!

Ubuntu MATE 16.10, lovely bloat. I have to admit, I even like it for what it is. Feels like Ubuntu back in the golden-brownish days, nearly a decade ago.
I won't install it though :D

Re: Newsletter?

wow nice, that would be a handful of possible contributors. As said, this is not a weekly thing, probably not even monthly. Only the "fresh" section would bring some Linux-related obscure news (no, not the ole "Linux Mint 24 Vaginae is out now!" shite), everything else can be sta...

Newsletter?

There are so many cool people and so many interesting posts on this forums that it would be a shame not to make a (quarterly) newsletter, don't you think? So my question is: would anybody like to write some article(s) every now and then? Would there be someone who would definitely read such a BBQ ne...

Re: Emacs tips and tricks

Pretty Emacsers, a question for you: in org-mode, there's the 'org-scheule and 'org-deadline command, that opens the neat little calendar and you can shift-cursor through the dates, right? now this does only work in the GUI version, not in emacs-nox, at least not in TTY, where I use Emacs most of th...

^ I think there is nothing to do in Icedove, but in Gmail, when you have the two-way verification turned on. If I remember or see it, I will tell you. On Monday I need to set up the wife's work machine (switch to Linux) so I will come across it again :)

Re: New on the market / Fresh from the repos

IIRC you need to change some gmail settings to make Thunderbird/Icedove to work with it, something about low security stuff.
