Re: Color relationships in Xdefaults
Dear all, thank you for the thorough replies. Indeed seems like we have a consensus that there is no way but to do it by trial and error. The reason I was aksing in the first place is that I wrote a script (gvim-to-xcolors here ) that generates Xdefaults color lists from gvim themes. Given the hit a...

Color relationships in Xdefaults
I'm an avid collector of Xresources/Xdefaults files, occasionally port other colorschemes (ex. vim) to this format. I hope I'm not completely clueless about them. In the ideal scenario you have 8 or 16 distinct colors that work (contrast-wise) with each other. This is quite evident in this usual tab...

Re: Happy urxvt user wants a dropdown term.
Thanks! I have no clue how I overlooked that; It works good so far when combined with xdotool's windowsize.
edit: however, this won't move the running dropdown to another workspace - I know this is now i3wm specific, not urxvt/xdotool; I'm working on it, but suggestions welcome.

Happy urxvt user wants a dropdown term.
I really miss having a dropdown term here in i3wm with urxvt. Ideally I want something that is always 100% width and ~33% height regardless of screen size. I've tried the following script: #!/bin/bash wid=$(xdotool search --classname urxvtq) if [ -z "$wid" ]; then urxvt -name urxvtq -geome...

Re: introduction
nough of a use-case for a drop-down term? I added it to my xmonad halfway in my xmonad days and it really changed my flow a lot. The use case I had was that I considered one tmux session a 'desktop' session, where I have my file navigator and a scratch-pad for launching/moving/installing stuff. Thi...

introduction
I've been using Linux for 3 years now. Main reason I switched from Windows is because I found window management very unsatisfactory. I started with XMonad on Debian SID but I hit a limit with Haskell. Since then I moved to Arch and to i3wm a few months ago. I posted here just a few days ago advertis...

dynamic-xcolors - temporarily change terminal themes
I would like to hereby announced that I finally scratched an itch I always had and it feels good now. The itch was that I wanted to have the same colorscheme between a gvim instance and the terminal that accompanies it. Secondly, I wasn't content with having to restart the terminal, nor writing sepa...
