Re: WTH is an Invalid Signature in GRUB?

yeah the thing is if you have more than 1 drive and more than 1 partition to boot in, and not using UUID, then the /dev/sdX will change according to the drive/partition you selected to boot from. That's what pidsley was referring to in his post. Usually, you should have one system (I would always pi...

Re: WTH is an Invalid Signature in GRUB?

Are you sure the geometry is correct? I refer to
set root=(hd1,1)
chainloader +1

How about removing the chainloader part, as it sounds it jumps to the second partition there

the ranking is probably countable (as in 'ranking systems'), so it would usually allow for a plural form. I don't think they use it as gerund here on phpbb :D

Re: Where do you guys stand on upgrading amd/Intel microcode

those days, installing it on my old IBM T43 has not shown any positive outcome except the ivanovesque error code which pops up at boot time. Only optional for newer hardware it seems. You can check /proc/cpuinfo if it's in use.

Re: Rofi - window switcher, run dialog and dmenu replacement

good that you mention it, I never got it to work (Debian repos). Followed the manpage and the online docs. It just pops up a whiteish window and nothing happens on keypress. Does the version from the (sid) repos work for anyone here?

And welcome 2017. I don't wish "happy new year"s anymore because life is full of shit anyway. Wish you and your loved ones all stay healthy and don't get into troubles. Yes, that simple. When you wake up in the morning and nothing hurts, you can be sure you're dead. Thank you all for being...

yeah as pidsley said, the more you play with them the less interesting it gets. I'm staying with the one I have installed that's openrc for my customized things [no reason], sysvinit for the default bbq stuff [it just werks], busybox on an old desktop [when pidsley had his voyage to initland he infe...

ah nice, wrt dwm logout/login there's following trick: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/dw ... g_programs

of course this would require ~.xinitrc to check if dwm is actually started, but hey :D
