Re: Something to celebrate? Do it here!

Thanks Guys, hasn't arrived ... yet :/ I think we may need to declare last years 2020 tax.... which includes 9 months or so salaried work in UK and 3 months of UK salaried work in france... I think it's fine - the income tax in France is fuck all with 4 kids. So I'm just not sure if they want the fu...

Re: show us your iron

To be fair, that NUC cleanout even in our pretty dusty, dog hairy house that only needed doing once in 5 years. I only really noticed as they play minecraft.

Re: show us your iron

I'd have to recommend the NUC - I got mine from work (free) as the WFH desktop and it's very solid, tiny but powerful, it's intel so everything just works on board with Linux. It's been running for just over 5 years now, mine is an i3 something something low tier back then. Speaking of Java the kids...

Re: Something to celebrate? Do it here!

Haven't got the cards yet - but we are legally allowed to spend 5 years in France! I'm glad we're not yet going back to the UK - I plan to gut punch everyone who has admitted that they voted for brexit. I mean we maybe should have not left, but here we are, we are living in our house the kids are ac...

Re: Movies, Flicks, Films, Videos, cinematography

So we watched the Maze Runner trio of films. I'm not sure I would recommend them as such. A slightly interesting world I suppose. So many fucking plot holes and just "why is that happening? Why don't they.. oh yeah he (the expendable character) is dead now, yup." events though. Couple of m...

I listen to this when I've had too much to drink to show that I am actually, in the grand scheme of things, not that out of kilter.

Re: musics, bitches

It still astounds me that people can play relatively complex guitar stuff (yes power chords count as complex) and sing.

Re: Random Internet Thread

Yeah - I think there is some docker file to do something with. might figure it out at some point :D So, I heard there was an issue in saving the config? Try this to save the config - you need to tweak the settings a bit: make the root the exact same as the url in the topbar ( the app is not expecti...

Lol, I am out of the deb cycle at work now. I knew it was on the cards and it tends to be summer releases (I think) well then. Thank Vic!

Re: show us your iron

That's why I used "keyboards" - with an s at the end ;-) No problem Slob, I oversaw that but I know what you mean. When you travel here in Europe you will always find another keyboard layout and that is frustrating because you cannot just start typing in an internet cafe e.g. At least we ...

Re: Jazz

My dad had this record that I nabbed off him many years ago. Boring recent events resurfaced it for me and still think it's pretty cool.

OK had to look it up:
At the same time, the most common accented letter é is at key 2.

I'm using the GB keymap as a die in the wool expat and no way i'm going over to that setup :D

Congrats, let us hope it will serve you well for a long time. :)
So if it's half as long lived as the X1 (which is still running) it will last 4 years :D

Re: show us your iron

OH I bought a zenbook. It's pretty nice. nothing majorly annoying (apart from the FR keyboard which even the french are astounded how bad/useless it is) I popped the fucking keys off that I could to make it at least appear mostly qwerty. (terrible ex-pat I know) it's pretty quick. it was this or a 2...

Re: Distros of interest

might be unpopular, but the new ubuntu 21 is really quite nice. Now I have a machine which can run it nice :) I still miss i3 a bit. I get lost in all of gnomes swoopy menus and workspace things. but some things are very much simpler to have setup out the box - like all the media/control buttons. ID...
