Re: Random Internet Thread

Interesting experiment! This fella setup a few servers with no fail2bab and such, left the root password as "password", and then observed what happened (through sysdig.) https://sysdig.com/blog/fishing-for-hackers/

Re: /dev/null

It looks like the govt has been touching Reddit's no-no and issued a gag order a la Lavabit . This is why we have Warrant Canaries - we might have never known! https://www.reddit.com/r/announcements/comments/4cqyia/slug/d1knc88 I'm getting sick and tired of these Stasi/KGB-ish moves by the American ...

Re: Classical music

I suppose this might fit into Classical Music. I didn't notice a thread for choral works! This is one of my "go-to" albums in my library when I am wanting to chill out/study.

Agnus Dei: Music of Inner Harmony - The Choir of New College Oxford, recorded back in '97.

Re: Go-peerflix

^ Thankfully it is not! Just one I pulled off of the interwebz. I do use Charter, though, and did come to the conclusion that they would throttle my bandwidth if I was seeding (legal) torrents. I just changed the ports and I was fine!

Don't forget a VPN if you are in one of the "five eyes countries" :) (I know you aren't, Frank.)

You don't want one of these in your mailbox...

Re: Emacs tips and tricks

@machinebacon To be honest, there really isn't anything that I particularly hate about it, except for perhaps the rather large size the default is. What I do love is that it is new and interesting :D Something new to play with... I just like the way my setup is organised. Gekko, you already have a w...

Re: Emacs tips and tricks

So I went ahead and jumped into this head-first: spacemacs . It isn't its own application, per se, but rather a .emacs.d configuration. Spacemacs is a new way to experience Emacs -- a sophisticated and polished set-up focused on ergonomics, mnemonics and consistency. Just clone it, launch it, then p...

^ Looks great! I personally find KDE 4 easier to slim down than GNOME 3. Konqueror is a more than adaquate browser, IMO, and if I need something more I might toss on qupzilla. I'm not a VLC fan, and I think that if I wasn't too lazy to do the research I might be able to figure out how to exclude tha...
