Re: Shutdown freezing

Code: Select all

sudo shutdown -r now
sudo shutdown -h now
Switched to

Code: Select all

sudo /sbin/reboot
sudo /sbin/poweroff
But made no difference.

Going to check dmesg now. Thanks, wux.

Virtual grilling - Cook a BBQ into VirtualBox

I know, I know... We don't support installations in VirtualBox, VMWare, qemu or others. Anyway, I use BBQ spins in VBox daily and it's not that hard. They work nicely just having a few things into account. Here some tips for the adventurous: 1) Make it work: The kernel 4.0 doesn't play good with VBo...

Shutdown freezing

I installed mesa-vdpau-drivers in order to get streams from mpv, otherwise it doesn't stream anything here. Since I installed it shutting down freezes forever. It goes to a blank screen as always but it never powers off the machine. The same for reboot. It doesn't do it. just freezes at the same poi...

Blackbox is cool indeed, but cannot tab windows. That's a good reason to go Fluxbox ;)

Re: Your music equipment

Somewhat like gutterslob, until three years ago i had a dirty amount of cool gear, but got rid of it. Now it's all coming from my computer. RME HDSP9652 soundcard (actually overkill, since I only use the S/PDIF outputs now) Mackie 1202 VLZ-Pro mixer (that craps out the sound just to have a headphone...

Re: Stuck with tmux

Thanks guys. It works for root. Going to replace that config file.

BTW, this happens both in Bork and Smoothie. It seems the default ~/.tmux.conf files in these spins are not good anymore for the current tmux version.

Oh, good to know. Anyway, I've commented the lines but this persists:

Stuck with tmux

I'm trying to learn tmux, but cannot even start it properly. I launch it from my menu like this: x-terminal-emulator -t tmux -e tmuxattach and get this output: /home/paco/.tmux.conf:15: unknown option: mouse-select-pane /home/paco/.tmux.conf:16: unknown option: mouse-resize-pane /home/paco/.tmux.con...

Re: Xorg all over the place (read before posting!)

Removing that zzz script did it. No more respawning. I finally can get into the ttys. Failed to install the drivers, but that's a different story.

Thanks a lot, baconator.

Nope. no systemd. I'm running Bork. paco@grill:~$ policy systemd systemd: Installed: (none) Candidate: 227-2 Version table: 227-2 0 500 http://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/debian/ unstable/main amd64 Packages You can definitely always go to TTY2 and let xserver loop in TTY1 until it stops respawn...

Re: Xorg all over the place (read before posting!)

The fix seems to work. I can run the X, but still cannot get rid of "the loop". I haven't managed to stop the xserver to restart over and over again, or in other words, staying on a tty for at least a second. The thing is I want to install the Nvidia drivers for my new GPU and there's no f...
