I like the 'softer' theme better. I like when you have the right bg shade to make the text pop out-3d like. Not sure if this even makes sense outside my head.

I'd say that is b/c when urxvt loads, it loads from .Xresources, thus undoing your -bg change. Potentially, and this is really just me thinking out loud, you could leave bg as a variable, then create a function in bashrc to take your bg parameter and insert into you .xresource file as a parameter. T...

And the final product .... It was really tastey. Kids enjoyed it too.

Ha, no worries. It is a bit on the green side, but with this wall, the inspiration, it works. I'll only use it for a couple days anyway. Then it will just be lost in the mix.

Updated: scrapes xrdb directly, sets current gtk theme to match xcolor scheme. Works only with gtk2

Cool wall turned colors. Also revamped/improved gtkColor to take directly from xrdb. Not sure why I would have done it any other way, but learning is learning
