Re: Short thoughts on nutrition and health v2.

@DebianJoe, thanks. And regarding the portions, YES !! If you don't burn much but you still eat a lot of calories, you will get fatter. That's no rocket science, right? And that is what I saw on holiday in the West of the USA - ridiculously large portions of food and drinks, and many very obese peop...

Re: Short thoughts on nutrition and health v2.

PS, I am way skinnier than Joe's cousin. I guess he will be better at disk throwing or wrestling, but I will run a 10 kilometer race much faster :)

Re: Short thoughts on nutrition and health v2.

Great read! I am on the other side of the spectrum...I am a skinny guy, my BMI (body mass index) is 19,5. My sports are running & cycling but I *suck* at weight lifting LOL And my diet is the oppposite of Joe's ! I eat bread, pasta, rice, vegetables, cheese, fruit, I am a "moderate meat eat...

Re: Issue 0002

Yep! On my xfce machine, my bar is at the left side as well. FireFox has an extension which puts the tabs on the left side, haven't found that for other browsers though.. I haven't found a way to put the browsers bars (url, etc.) on the left side though. In theory you could change the source code an...

Re: Some nixy weirdness I'd like to share.

Did you look at the BSDs? PC-BSD has a "jails" concept, sort of mixture of chroot and VM (actually I was too lazy too study it in depth) in which you can run programs. Or operating systems such as Linux. The story is in one of the Linux Action Shows. Nice concept.

Re: What are you actually running for daily/primary usage?

@Machinebacon - I mean serious trouble after an update, like monitors not working, system not booting and so on. I don't mean instability in terms of Debian Unstable - that is the instability we like as rolling roasters , right? Change is nice, small problems are OK (sound not working, programs cras...

@ Eren - how is Gentoo unstable in terms of stability? Say, compared to Debian Sid (LinuxBBQ !!) or to Arch? Thanks.

PluXML, a nice CMS

I discovered PluXML. Looks like a nice CMS, I will try this out in the next weeks. http://www.pluxml.org/ The project is in French, but if you can't read it there's always Google Translate, right? The unique thing is that you don't need a database, all data are stored in XML files. You can take your...

Re: I'm about to lose my shit here (predatory pricing)

And to add: 4. How likely is it that MS, who had been struggling for years to get a good mobile OS, owns the Android OS, yet does nothing with it? 5. How likely is it anyway that they would"own" parts of the Android code, they are not exactly known as Linux coders, right? 6. The only paten...

Re: I'm about to lose my shit here (predatory pricing)

@gutterslob - that is debatable. Why? -edit, I mean it is debatable that they have patents at all - 1. it looks like MS is only closing deals with companies that also sell MS stuff. In other words, are we really taking about money paid for valid patents MS says top have on Android? 2. They keep it v...

Re: I'm about to lose my shit here (predatory pricing)

You are right. This is like McDonalds complaining that cooking your own food "steals" money from them, or like hookers claiming that happy couples steal from them, or like liposuction clinics who hate skinny people ("pirates who refuse to get obese").
