Re: Ubuntu Phone, Sailfish, FirefoxOS - why not combine?

I appreciate this talk tbh, because many places on the web, always turn out to be flame wars and junk like that, very little constructive comes out of it. Personally, I agree fully with you Dura, but I have to say, there should be unity on the packages. They are the language OSs use, hardware manufa...

Re: [email protected]

Yes please MachineBacon :)

Hmm, is it possible to have my name as "simgin" ( I couldn't choose it here cause of the need for 10+ characters when I joined. It's the name I use in #! and many other places as well :)

cheers

Re: Ubuntu Phone, Sailfish, FirefoxOS - why not combine?

Yes I know rhowaldt :) oh I know hehe, I'll take that discussion another day :p hehe But, package systems are like the labeling of a cereal box , why not use more power/unity to focus on a nice solid box than making a different variety with the same context? What is done here(BBQ) is correct, the DE...

Re: Ubuntu Phone, Sailfish, FirefoxOS - why not combine?

Thats one thing that always has puzzled me, I'm relatively new to Linux tbh :) 3 years , is the packagemanagement system. People are pro apt , rpm etc, why not settle for one manager ? Add all of each type of manager into one program. Remove what they aren't good at and focus on the strengths. It wo...

Very nice Orion , I'm looking forward to see the end result :) I do like old Japanese water colour paintings, at least I think they are water based , hmm. Just referring to the modernized background you are showing :) I think MachineBacon, posted a screen somewhere here, with peach/rosa colours japa...

Re: Ubuntu Phone, Sailfish, FirefoxOS - why not combine?

I'm just wandering why that no one is really addressing "to get basics right" first, more stable systems, apps making full use of multiple processors etc.

It's like wanting to go to the moon, but only a rowing boat is available
(abstract metaphor I know ) ;)

Just some of my thoughts :)

Re: Ubuntu Phone, Sailfish, FirefoxOS - why not combine?

I agree with you Potatoehead, it's like they are spreading buckshots instead of using a sniper rifle, they will miss their target overall, but hit one or two curious people. Waste of money , not doing a joint job... The overall question is : What does Linux want to be? Many opinions on that :) nonet...

Re: Elitist i686 (LXDE) Release News

Oh boy :) This is something for me, and a good size ISO as well, perfect. The choice of adding Bluefish, is very clever indeed. So far I have never seen anyone else add it, which is weird since everyone knows it's a damn good app. ....i'll be going down in my basement again.. ;) Cheers Simgin PS. Ni...

Hello all :) I'm trying the Oyster with bags of Wms , and it runs into an error when startup, just after I enter Login & Password . I'm testing it in a VM, and the other Wms are fine, just not Notion. It says : >>Unknown class "WTiling" , cannot create region. Rest of the text is about...
