Re: Volume knobs on my laptop don't work

If you have alsamixer or whatnot in your panel right click on it and there should be a 'Preferences' option. In it there is a hotkeys section which is not selected by default. Tick the boxes and it should turn them on. Otherwise I'm sure another kind fellow will give you some help mapping them corre...

This thread is becoming increasingly philsophical. Makes me think of Bergson and Heraclitus.

Re: Ubuntu Phone, Sailfish, FirefoxOS - why not combine?

Because people want different things, there is always a history inviting new lines of flight, and pushing people in new directions, some people just don't get along with each other, some people like to sit in the cupboard, because the world is not made up of similarities all together, but also simil...

Re: How do I share files over network?

If you don't want to get your hands greasy with samba and want a bit of security you might want to try owncloud. I have found it really good. It has lots of functionality, even media streaming. :)

Re: Ubuntu Phone, Sailfish, FirefoxOS - why not combine?

Yeah, I'd like an ubuntu phone. Sounds cool. I watched a vid a few months ago about them and they were running libreoffice from it, on an external screen, and using it like a laptoppy thingy. I think they even had a little keyboard for it. Pretty cool. As if firefox and ubuntu are ever going to work...

Re: Ubuntu Phone, Sailfish, FirefoxOS - why not combine?

Seems you have forgotten that linux is not just one individual unit. The 3 different organizations that you mention are really competitors- they are corporate businesses and though it may be in their interest to combine at times, are also trying to make some money out of it. They don't care what lin...

Hey orionthehunter! Good to see you at the grill. You sound like an interesting chap! I'm veggie, and find it ok at the bbq; these meat eaters aren't as bad as they sound. Small fried chicken pieces? Cool- you might want to have a look at bbqsnapshot tool which is for you to roast your own. Pass me ...

Girlfriend has Proof on her 1525 and is liking it, though I did install a load of bloooat on it.

Still haven't put it on my spare partition. Will do though this weekend probably though. Still loving Escargot! Then I'll be building up Boner on a spare partition on her *testing* machine :)

Re: Installing iceweasel aurora

I am using iceweasel for last few weeks and upon installation is does identify 3 unfixed bugs. Like rho I have been using it without problems. This is on my production machine. I don't think they're 'grave bugs' just your run of the mill vague 'serious bugs'. My only worries initially using it for w...

Hey kowloonboy. Good to see you here. Enjoy your roast. What are you roasting/being roasted by?

Do you do martial arts then? I did taekwon do for a few years in my teens but gave up after a while. Pretty cool knowledge/intuition.

Re: Where can I read the differences BBQ vs plain Siduction

Thank you for more insights into the wonderful world of light system theory Mr. Bacon. A simple right click in Escargot or something, Mr.Potatohead, identifies some initial differences- the BBQ tools which are a wonderful and thoughtful addition. I'm sure there is countless more. Importantly, I thin...
