Re: evilwm

^ Oh, crap, I didn't even think of that when I threw those up here. I marked them adult when I threw them up on Postimage, though.

Should I delete the post?

Git help

OK, I'm a complete git/Github noob. I've got this xcolor theme and scrot I wanna upload to our repo, but I have no idea what I'm doing, and all the tutorials I'm finding online are about working with my own repo, which I do know I'm not doing. I don't wanna start banging out commands and screwing so...

Re: Xresources/Xdefaults colors

I'm calling this one succubus, and I think it's sharp. I've been working with it for a couple of days, and with only a few tweaks in Mccabber, everything looks fine. ! succubus *background: #130704 *foreground: #D5AE94 *color0: #130704 *color1: #300F07 *color2: #38261B *color3: #4B1609 *color4: #572...

Re: evilwm

OK, I'm now on the evilwm bandwagon. This is way cool, but if you're running Wheezy, make sure you get the version from backports. The stock version locks up hard with 100% CPU usage when you try to kill it. Here's a couple scrots to prove that I'm in the fold. Edit: removed thumbnails Second edit: ...

Re: fluxbox

because I needed a break from today's writing session, I went back to hacking on fluxbox. Dudes, paletterx is way cool for getting the colors for fluxbox themes, but I'm thinking you already knew that. This is my latest attempt. Still using Wheezy. Maybe when this book is done, I'll play around in S...

I am such a sucker for the old-school green-screens that I have got to try that out. I can't resist. I just gotta.

Re: Favorite browser

@elixir dwb's keybindings do seem strange if you're not a vim guy. I have the same reaction when I'm looking at something with EMACS keybindings. They seem like a foreign language.

^ done. I knew I was forgetting something. ;)

And yeah, that pallete came out sweet. Very easy to use, especially working with text as much as I do.

Re: Xresources/Xdefaults colors

OK, did a wallpaper change and made a new pallete. This one is even sweeter to work with than the last one. Let's call this one rising_tide. Re: TIP: Localization on netinstalls

The only thing that I saw that changed is when I did the dpkg-reconfigure console-setup, I had to know the character set (Latin1/Latin5) but other than that, everything's working fine.

TIP: Localization on netinstalls

Here's a neat trick I tripped over by accident just playing with a Wheezy expert netinstall: At the first screen, where it asks you for the localization, there's an option at the top called "C". Hit that, then select your continent and country. It appears to not install some extra files (d...

Re: Systemd notice (important)

^ Update: utter failure. Even with avahi-daemon to tell cups where the printer is, it just fails with no error and no output. Maybe if I had a usb cable long enough to reach, it would work.

hplip is just the path of least resistance and the way that has always worked for me.

Re: Systemd notice (important)

^ This will be nice. hplip is a monster. Even without recommends it's almost 200megs, and I gotta have it because my printer needs an HP plugin. If they can find a way to let me install that without the rest of that stuff, that can only be a good thing, I finally found where hplip stuck the ppd file...

Re: Systemd notice (important)

^ Installing hplip wants to purge sysvinit-core (I think that's it) and after a reboot, you're using systemd. It happened on Spring, and it happened again on Author.

Re: Systemd notice (important)

hplip will pull in systemd, too. I learned that playing around with Sid before it crashed and burned. My next hardware purchases will be a little better thought out, I can tell you that for free.

OK, I'm calling this one blue_moon. I don't think there's already one by that name, but if there is, I can always find something even cheesier to call it. I agree with all posts made by anyone who isn't me. At such time as I may once again be agreeing with myself, I'll make a PSA to that effect, and then we can all agree that agreement is never disagreeable.
