running Kielbasa with i3wm I changed the cursor theme w/o a hitch using lxappearance. Pretty much the above method Potatohead and drum just described. Usually have to log out and back in again to see the change.

yep, sure do. I actually found another type of solution with xautolock and i3lock. Think it might make a good wiki article.

ok, I used the code from the beginning of the thread. I just popped your code in for my .Xresources and it worked as intended. Transparency was there. I use feh. I switched my wallpaper using nitrogen and it broke transparency. I have used nitrogen before with transparency working so it is not speci...

began using LInux recently in 2009 / 2010. At the time I just dual booted with W7 with either Ubuntu or LinuxMint. From that point on I booted into the W7 partition less and less. your transparency code is fine and should work. Generally what I have found is that if there is an error in your .Xresources file, but it still 'merges' okay without any errors, the change will not take effect. i3 as a whole has really done it for me. I actually use conky instead, but nonetheless. No matter what I may try, always come back.
