Re: Kielbasa (LinuxBBQ XFCE) RC Release News

way cool.
I'm carving out time for a real install.
One of the reasons (well 2) I came to Debian was one-stop shopping and rolling release.
Time to get rid of my *untu image.... (chosen for eye candy)
XFCE is a great chioce.

Re: Kielbasa RC Release News

All right, PearOS is an Ubuntu derivate isn't it? And SolusOS with Jockey must be in Eveline. I still have that on a partition and have a look. Thanks hinto! Yeah PearOS is based on Ubuntu, and looks like OSX (a bit). I cross compile for Windows and OSX (no Linux market yet) ...and it was Eveline t...

Re: Kielbasa RC Release News

^To be fair, #! doesn't see it by default. Ikey ported Jockey to SolusOS. That would be a sure-fire way of enabling wireless (after an initial wired connection)
The above dump was done using PearOS, which did recognize my adapter where I enabled it with Jockey to get it to work.

Re: Kielbasa Release News

@Hinto: about that wireless... could you do us a big favor and test the new Kielbasa RC2, and let us know if your wireless works out of the box? http://linuxbbq.org/bbs/viewtopic.php?p=600#p600 or other thread: http://linuxnoob.freeforums.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=404 The wireless didn't work out...

Re: Succumbing to the peer pressure....

I started with Kanotix when it was based on SID (and Knoppix). Then sidux, aptosid, siduction, and #! tracking siduction. In between, I've run OpenSuse, OpenSolaris, RHEL, LMDE, Linux Mint, and Ubuntu. All installed on bare metal and for daily use. I currently am running Fuduntu, #! (tracking siduct...

Re: Mother Release News

@mb I saw that (about nm-applet), but like I said, it didn't see my wireless adapter, so I stumped along in ceni.
I'll open another thread as needed.

Re: Mother Release News

Nice job... I booted up the liveUSB.... hooked a cable to my laptop... I guess I missed it, but is there a howto for hooking Ceni up to my wireless network? I didn't see that Ceni saw the wireless adapter (tho it looked like the driver was installed). In the meantime, I'll check siduction's site, to...

I'm a jelly donut

So I broke out the BBQ and started to warm up to it using a vm and the Kolbasz iso. I didn't have the correct lighter fluid since it (the iso) wouldn't boot in the vm. But a quick trip to Unebootin provided the right fluid for me to be started. So I booted the liveCD/DVD/USB and started cooking. How...

Re: Succumbing to the peer pressure....

Been down the LXDE path with siduction and peppermintOS.
I usually ended up using XFCE's WM with it.
Snagged the Base (and a Special Edition) for XFCE 64 bit...

You know, since it's Debian, it's all a base ;)
It can morph at will.

Thanks for the info.

Re: Succumbing to the peer pressure....

good suggestions...

Not real interested in Mate, maybe a Cinnamon roast.

Did a tour of duty with siduction razorQT.

I *could* roast my own for my avatar's namesake, like HintoOS as you suggested. I came up with Hinto as in hint-o-mint. My host was named julep (of course)

Re: Succumbing to the peer pressure....

Now just to figure out which one to install ;) I have a Acer laptop (Quad core, 8GB Ram) with onboard ATI. I currently run PearOS on it, but I can't decide where the bottle neck is... either animations (tho minimal) or the ATI video driver. I borked the video on it once while trying to install the o...
