Re: Linux News

I use smxi to admin it. vera is young, but pretty nice. It's like a DE for OpenBox I wish the launcher would overlay the windows. The flat theme is nice and the distro dev seems to be very responsive. I did have to patch vmplayer since it runs with a 3.19 kernel, but so far so good. -Hinto EDIT: @bo...

Re: Why did Linux pick you? And why did Sid?

I started using Linux in 2006. I needed a 64 bit non-Windows development environment to develop a client/server (Java/CORBA) application. By the time I was code freezing, the testers (who by now had forgotten how to test on anything other than Windows) started testing on AIX (64 bit) and non-Active ...

Re: Movies, Flicks, Films, Videos, cinematography

Just saw RoboCop (1987) on cable.
That movie really stands the test of time.
I remember seeing it originally in 1987 at a Drive-In Theatre when I was home for college.

Is it any good? I have a hard time getting past Arquette. She's pretty one-dimensional. (Medium was horrible)

Re: What are you actually running for daily/primary usage?

The dot files are all in the new /home/hinto, so you get all the new distro's look and feel and defaults.
You are in control of moving only the files you want to keep from /home/hinto.bak to /home/hinto.

No different than a backup.

Re: What are you actually running for daily/primary usage?

All GUI's are bloat ;) Anecdotally, KDE Mint runs faster than Mate or Cinnamon versions. As far as the same home... When I boot the liveCD/DVD/iso, I just rename /home/hinto to /homt/hinto.bak and install normally. When done, I just copy back things I know I want. (Documents, Video, Music, Downloads...

Re: What are you actually running for daily/primary usage?

With /, swap, and /home on separate partitions, distro-hopping each day is a cinch.
Currently running Mint/KDE, but itching to hop to some bbq (again) since #! is in flux and solydXK has moved to "stable", just to shake things up again.
