Re: VPN and DNS Nonsense

Heh, IVPN is phasing out port forwarding as well now; https://www.ivpn.net/blog/gradual-removal-of-port-forwarding/ Kind of surprises me, because of their high price and limitations with their port forwarding implementation (only 1 port per account, which expires after 14 days on inactivity), I expe...

Re: VPN and DNS Nonsense

^ Sadly can’t even remember my torrentleech username and password anymore. They probably deleted my account anyway. Shame, had a good seed ratio. Should’ve stuck around.

Re: VPN and DNS Nonsense

^ So the you posting in the movies thread (an invaluable resource, btw) is the “nowadays I watch way less” version? Just how much would the old you be capable of watching?! O_O Can you initiate torrent download (for those rare flicks) if it’s just a single seeder without a visible port? Also, wouldn...

Re: VPN and DNS Nonsense

If you think about it, offering five ports for forwarding is kinda asking for abuse. Removing the feature might actually get their IPs off some blacklists in time. I do wonder what’s seeded behind private trackers these days though, especially with the news of RARBG’s death. Haven’t forwarded ports ...

Re: VPN and DNS Nonsense

^ Just as I switched from ProtonVPN to Mullvad in May. :( If you pay monthly then you should have nothing to worry about. Forwarded port(s) will be active until 1st July. If you’ve paid for longer you can email support to request a refund even if the 30-day refund period has passed (although it wil...

^ The saddest part of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom. Think of when he wrote that. You could argue that modern “fingertip friendly” technology has simply widened that gap. Critical thinking is subliminally discouraged by social media algorithms. P...

Re: VPN and DNS Nonsense

Bad news (and a heads up) for anyone on Mullvad. Looks like the pedos ruined it for the rest of us; https://mullvad.net/en/blog/2023/5/29/removing-the-support-for-forwarded-ports/ If you’re depending on port forwarding for your private tracker seeding, web hosting, media streaming, game server, etc ...

Re: Random Internet Thread

I am trying to write down my feelings about all of this somehow, and especially wrt my approach to independent music, maybe I'll publish something on my blog. I just couldn't resist: https://manueluberti.eu/2023/04/10/bandcamp.html (In fact, I haven't even read it twice to double-check, so expect s...

Re: Random Internet Thread

^^ Bandcamp have supposedly been petitioning some of the independent labels to withdraw support of this unionization. Naturally, all the labels rejected. In some ways, I guess unionizing has become common for many in the US tech sector, considering the exploitation (and eventual burnout) going on. B...

Re: musics, bitches

Recently rediscovered this LP. The first track was, for reasons I cannot remember, sort of background music of my childhood; https://favoriterecordings.bandcamp.com/album/arian

Btw, that Bandcamp label is a treasure trove of re-issues.

Re: ✞ Obituary ✞

^ Cybotron and Kraftwerk can argue all they want, but as far as my musical schooling goes, Yellow Magic Orchestra created techno. Oh, and fun fact, they were the first to use the 808 and 303 in recordings. Takahashi died in January, Sakamoto in March. Only Hosono remains.
