Re: Have you tried turning it off and on again?
http://www.druva.com/blog/joys-remote-tech-support-low-values-joy/ I do support for an interactive developer environment (IDE), and so the tech support questions I get are from programmers. I have, on more than one occasion, had a user email me a copied-and-pasted error message. But actually it cont...

Re: xterm/urxvt woes
I've finally found the solution for xterm in an old bug report:
(turns out it's in the manual....)
Code: Select all
Xterm*alternateScroll: true

Small tip if you have a delay when switching between X and TTYs, and use a newer Intel GPU: /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf ---- Section "Device" Identifier "Intel Graphics" Driver "intel" Option "AccelMethod" "glamor" EndSection ( source )

Especially useful for beginners (such as myself): https://github.com/bbatsov/guru-mode About keybinds, I'm surprised ergoemacs was not mentioned yet. It has a "notepad-ish" interface*, as well as some added features (such as improved language support, a Redo feature and a dmenu-like minib...

one more discussion about systemd being a bitch or not, and I leave the grill ;) I'm terribly sorry, but I just have to share this (from #crux): If it takes over everything, before you know, you might hear people say: "Oh yeah, systemd, great operating system, the only thing it lacks is a dece...

Re: What distros are you using?
After I break Arch I'm going to try Slackware. Seeing as how you broke both Debian 7 and CentOS, it's conceivable that you can break Slackware. Will be interesting to see how that goes. ;) I haven't been able to... I've made some PEBKAC mistakes early on, but even then did not break it. Well, I did...

Yes, you didn't add your age to your profile. :PHow does it come that nobody remembered my birthday some weeks ago in the crazy July where a lot of grillers were born? I guess it is not visible here. :P

slackman
I'm unsure to post this here, but Slackware seems fairly popular at the grill so why not. To handle slackbuilds there's sbopkg . Besides being hugely complex (4775 lines) it doesn't do what I want, i.e fakeroot . Slackware uses DESTDIR=$PKG , but it does this as the real root. I've found no real arg...

My radeon has HDMI, so I always have to configure ALSA to not use it. Usually I do this via asoundconf , but it's bloated (OSS, pulseaudio, etc) and misses some commands (like alsactl nrestore). So I rewrote it in bash. #!/bin/bash # http://www.sabi.co.uk/Notes/linuxSoundALSA.html CARDS=($(/usr/bin/...
