Re: /dev/null
Huniepop is tame compared to a lot of the games out there that Steam refuse to sell. Happy googling.

Re: BOOK! (Hardcopy edition)
Those two are 'must read' books. Although both come across as quite dated by today's tech standards, they're well worth it.
Edit: Just finished Dune (again), so I've started a re-read of Rendezvous with Rama by Arthur C. Clarke. Another 'must read'. In fact the whole series is.

Re: adblock-hosts script
Last I checked, uBlock has a smaller memory footprint than AdBlock and all its variants ever had.

Re: BOOK! (Hardcopy edition)
Brians books have never, to my knowledge, gotten the same rave reviews as Franks books did, but they're all very well written in their own right. So I'd say, give them a shot. I was not disappointed at least. Mileage varies of course.

Currently re-reading: Dune by Frank Herbert (5th or 6th time or something like that) Just finished reading: Seveneves by Neal Stephenson - If you get moist reading super detailed descriptions of whatever sciency stuff the characters are doing, this might get you going. To me it was like watching gra...

Re: stumpwm
Building it from source is ridiculously easy. I went with Steel Bank Common Lisp as the compiler and installed the libraries mentioned in the readme. Took all of 5 minutes to do including me derping a bit inside sbcl.

Re: stumpwm
I'm moving from one comfort zone to another. This is just a clean build of stump, but I could get used to all this C-t business.

Re: Distros of interest
Nah, LFS doesn't teach much, but people will at least know what the bare essentials are. And unless the LFS book has changed a lot, people are encouraged to use 'man' and see what the packages do, apart from the short description the book gives. As far as patches go: fuck 'em.

Re: Distros of interest
Going through an LFS install is something I feel every user should do at least once. It gives some insight into how the beast operates, and at the very least a Dr. Frankenstein moment when you've bootstrapped your very own installation.

I don't have a lot of experience with IPA's, but this one definitely didn't agree with my tastes. I followed up with a lager from the same brewer. Much more agreeable to me.
