Re: DW Rant - Issue 0006 Draft - sneak peek (tm)
I like it here :) I'll stick around. The BBQ is a lot closer to what I think a distro should be than any other distro I've come across so far. That and I like the atmoshere :)

Re: DW Rant - Issue 0006 Draft - sneak peek (tm)
Edit:..."By now it should be abundantly clear that I don't really care much for the site or how they handle things. You can use it as a directory for Linux distros that have 'made it', at least into the mainsteam of sorts, but you're going to miss out on a lot of good ones, simply because you d...

I'm no good with poetry. I could of course try my hand at Vogon Poetry, but I fear that would make the Internet melt.
I've added the distrozilla link. I'm skipping distrohopper for the time being. I'm not even sure what the site is going to be.

The IRC is alive and kickin'
It's 19:00 CEST and we're 6 in the chatroom.
Don't be shy. I don't bite ... much.

Re: configs and dotfiles
org-mode in emacs for all the notes, tasks and whatnot and then a simple rsync via ssh for my home dir. The org-mode file goes into the rsync as well of course along with my documents and whatever else I like to have backed up. I have a linode slice I use as my cloud storage. With that I can throw m...

Re: Here I am
Thanks guys. rhowaldt - i was told about your soundcloud last night, so I had a peek. Have you been listening to a lot of Autechre and Boards of Canada by chance. I really get that vibe from some of the stuff you've made. Great! titan - thanks. I've been ranting on IRC/USENET/Forums for years, most ...

Re: DW Rant - Issue 0006 Draft - sneak peek (tm)
The use of profanities is a balancing act :) Years of practice, and I still get it wrong.
Sometimes I'll do the reverse. Write in a way that's so sarcastic, but friendly that its thick enough to cut through. I may give that a whirl in the coming weeks as well.
Thanks for the feedback!

DW Rant - Issue 0006 Draft - sneak peek (tm)
I was asked to do a DW bit for the next issue, so I sat down and wrote the first draft. Here it is as a kind of sneak peek at the coming newsletter. Let me know what you think. It looks a bit odd because the forum truncates extra whitespace, but it should be good enough to read. ====================...

Re: Here I am
I've always liked the simple things in life. you know .. basic HTML, beer, 4 channel music and a sensible terminal. My HTML skills have been so-so for most of my online life, so I've always favored the barebones approach to any web work I do. Simple but functional. And going with a fixed width font ...

Re: Here I am
Thanks for the welcome, guys. Yeah I'm a bit of a pedantic bitter cynic when it comes to my OS. More so in later years. I'm glad you enjoy reading my ranting :) There's a new series of rants every week. I even joined the 21st century and added something called a subscription box. Some newfangled thi...

Here I am
This intro is basically a copy-paste from another forum. Edited to reflect the current reality in which I reside. Back in 1994 my college professor and school sysadmin told me about something new and amazing he had found on the so-called Internet. He was and still is a Unix fan (System V) and longed...
