Here's a neat trick I tripped over by accident just playing with a Wheezy expert netinstall:
At the first screen, where it asks you for the localization, there's an option at the top called "C". Hit that, then select your continent and country. It appears to not install some extra files (dictionaries and stuff like that) that it normally does even after you select nothing at the tasksel screen. Language appears to be correctly set, and I can't find any bad effects.
Maybe you guys already knew that and I'm late to the party, but if not, here ya go.

I like how you can change the mirrors from the get go, handy for installing out of date versions of debian... 8)

The only thing that I saw that changed is when I did the dpkg-reconfigure console-setup, I had to know the character set (Latin1/Latin5) but other than that, everything's working fine.
