Disable Caps lock in Ubuntu 21.04

Unread post by wuxmedia » Mon Oct 04, 2021 5:26 pm

So the normal methods of:

Code: Select all

setxkbmap -option ctrl:nocaps
didn't do it for me, so have to install gnome tweak.

Then get down to 'caps lock behavior'
Don't click 'disabled' like an idiot - because that just makes no difference, need to click on the more verbose version:

I thought that was the beginner friendly distribution. Wait, the Gnome is messing with it. :D

First thing I do when I install a new Ubuntu is get GNOME Tweak and swap Caps Lock with Left Ctrl.

Being an Emacs fiend I couldn't live without it. But it turns out it's just good anyway.

Love the keyboard and especially the old school hjkl row with arrows.
