Poor Man's Spotify
poor man's spotify. Pointed to it from G+ Lightweight Linux.

Really great actually. Search, play or download.
Edit:
Moved out of Random Internet Thread. Figured deserved its own thread, easier to search. Instruction wise its pretty self explanatory, really.
clone it, cd into it, run it.
Can always flavor to your liking. I changed download directory to ~/music. also can copy to to /usr/bin, or create an alias for easy fast running.
Really must give props to the author

Edit: scrot

I wonder where it pulls the music from.

Re: Poor Man's Spotify
Yes, same here. From where does it fetch the music, Spotify? Somehow I also failed at reading properly. :)
Edit: Funny, I just tried the source, pleer.com, the Russians of course, so not related to Spotify but similar and even the possibility to download, smells like very *legal*. :P

*bump*
use this all the time. really has helped me to add to my music collection. I listen to pandora while at work, make a note of artists I enjoy, then play and download with pms.

Re: Poor Man's Spotify
It was Debian's pushing because of the name "Spotify" and then because of gender politics, "poor man's" was in the name. It will be packaged for Debian soon. In Debian pms is already another mpd client (the technical reason).
Re: Poor Man's Spotify
hmm, I just pull the latest from git. I didn't see any difference
got it. I had altered my file, so it was err'ing out asking me to commit or stash

Re: Poor Man's Spotify
When you start it, it says mps, not pms, and the executable file is also called mps, or, at least it was earlier today?

version 0.20.01
[UPDATE 13/Feb/2014: To assist with packaging and resolve a nameclash with other software, this program has been renamed from pms to mps]

Re: Poor Man's Spotify
Don't forget to change the download location if you had done so previously. Its coded a bit differently with this version and also differently from the version in the latest Spring Base Resease
