Favorite browser

This seems like such an obvious one, as this is a piece of software we all probably use every day. There are so many options available, it's pretty mind-boggling. I think I have probably tried them all, with the exception of whatever Windows-only browsers that may be out there.

So, let's break this down into 2 catagories: favorite text browser, and favorite full-featured GUI browser.

Mine:

Text - Links (runner-up: w3m)
GUI - Firefox (runner-up: xombrero)

Mine:

text - w3m (emacs-w3m when in Emacs) / runner-up: elinks
gui - tabbed+surf / runner-up: Iceweasel/Firefox

GUI : Chromium

Though, I might switch to IW, some features/plugins of our techsupport system aren't supported on Chrom*

text - links
gui - Firefox (Iceweasel)

I'm always tempted by Chrome/Chromium, but I never keep using it, because it misses some simple stuff that Firefox has OOTB ("Don't load tabs until selected" is the that I always mention from the top of my head) and also Firefox has real themes available for it, which I am a sucker for.

Text - elinks

I don't have a favourite GUI browser on Linux/BSD. Half of em are still confused as to whether they want GTK2 or GTK3, so they insist on pulling in both. The other half show weird convoluted processes on htop which make my system feel dirty on the inside. The other half (yes, three halves) render text like feces. Of the rest, one requires a fuckton of configuration to be remotely useable (ironic since that's how it's name is pronounced), another requires a stupid drawing language to work (seriously, lua? You wanna be Ru Paul or what?) and the other once had a cool pornographic name but later got turned into a stupid hat.

Whatever GUI browser works best, could be Firefox or Chromium. Nowadays I change them like socks.

Looks like Google will be dumping gtk2 for Aura, starting with Chrome 35:

Guess I need to read up on just what Aura is.

I think Aura is the graphical stack used in ChromeOS.

^ Yep. A cross platform UX to ship all the features of Chrome on the same level on Mac, Win and Tux.

So right now I'm working with the bleeding-edge Chrome Canary build on my Mac at work, and it's blazing fast compared to Firefox. May need to revisit Chrome/Chromium.

^ Thing with both is always some is doing something better than the other one. At the moment I prefer Chromium and I even just use it straight from the Debian repos. It renders html 5 and Flash (Pepper plugin) better than Fox.

links2 and chromium

Links, because it makes me less angry than some others

chromium, because I have all my usual bookmarks there, on all my installs/machines/phone.

This is the same reason I use Firefox, all of the computers I use have bookmarks synced via Firefox Sync.
