my keybindings for my old conkeror setup, modified to be a bit less painful to non emacs user. Not sure if it's going to be very useful to you or any vimmers out there, I am absolutely sure you can make something better. :)

Re: Favorite browser
I have been using the Roaster Browser, and I like it! I just need to add some plugins that seem to be missing- probably Flash, though not sure.
Sir! Put down the hammer and slowly step away from the computer.

Re: Favorite browser
I went to the music section of the forums and found out that I have a missing plugin. It might also be html5 that I am missing. I have vlc installed, and I noticed in the Sid package list there was a browser plugin. That could be all that I need. This is usually where I get into trouble. I am missing one simple thing, so I throw the entire kitchen of options at it. KISS is still a little foreign to me, lols.

Re: Favorite browser
you could try
I didn't think I had it installed on this set up, but I do. I haven't used roaster in some time. I mainly use vimb.
Code: Select all
ins flashplugin-nonfree

Re: Favorite browser
Thanks! I had actually installed it thanks to a tutorial on the wiki, but I crash/burned and had to reinstall. Forgot to do that with this one . Too busy trying to learn from my mistakes on the previous install, lols. That will be today's project.dkeg wrote:you could tryI didn't think I had it installed on this set up, but I do. Re: Favorite browser
My general rule is to install only what I know I will need, such as libs for my base/foundation system requirements. The little nuances (like flash) I let the need dictate if I should install or not.
Write it down. I keep a notebook for installs and problems I've run into, or I'll create a thread here to reference (I'm looking at you logsave). I could do better with my notes, but every new install, I have my notebook right next to me. I know of others here that do the same. Its impossible to remember everything.

Re: Favorite browser
Soon we will have webkit built in the kernel, and every program is an app.
Wait a minute... soon?!

Nope, not anymore. I think now you can watch Netflix with HTML5 within FF.

Re: Favorite browser
I had seen that in an Ubuntu article, but at the time I believe it had said only Chrome, and I get all kinds of jitters around Google (my poor Android phone!). Iceweasel being a spin of FF, do ya think it would work, there.
As an aside, I've found that HTML5 works just fine with Iceweasel, so I think I might just have a problem with the Roaster Browser. Any ideas on how I might get HTML5 working on Roaster, shoot me a message! I know it's just supposed to be a stand in until you add your favorite browser, but I am kind of fond of it )

Re: Favorite browser
I don't have Netflix but I guess it has something to do with the HTML5 DRM thing. I don't know very much about it, but html5test.com tells me that Roaster (on my machine) doesn't support DRM. NB: Midori either, and Roaster has a bit higher score :)

Re: Favorite browser
^ Could be indeed. I am almost convinced that all open source Webkit browsers do not support DRM. Only Chrome and FF. Now I am not sure about Chromium and IW but I guess rather not, specially not from the Debian repos.

Re: Favorite browser
Roaster is just a wrapper around python-webkit, so if python-webkit doesn't get an upgrade, roaster won't either.

Re: Favorite browser
That said, I forget to mention that Roaster is by far my favourite graphical lightweight browser.
