Re: If not Debian...
@machinebacon- dude, You can even make OSX rock! Good stuff! Thanks for helping this old rock head learn some new stuff! I know you'll get the itch to grill again, so I'll be keeping my eyes open 8-)
@rhowaldt- I feel you on xorg's fickle heart where radeon is concerned. My T500 played Hell trying to install any distro that could survive that update :( The only reason I kept Space Oddity through that update was because I took a chance and installed a custom Liquorix kernel and it actually survived (no radeon driver).
I guess since Manjaro is a fork of Arch, then that is my second choice. It is actually the first distro I was able to install next to my Space Oddity after I figured out why Grub just wouldn't recognize another install from a different hard disk. It's not actually Grub's fault- just the way my BIOS scrambles USB drives after poweroff/poweron, lols.

Sir! Put down the hammer and slowly step away from the computer.

Re: If not Debian...
One thing I cannot here anymore is how good ZFS is. :) Oops, wrong thread.
Re: If not Debian...
here you go Ivo:
as you can see it is minimal. I hate having too much shit on my desktop, which is why it is only the stuff I regularly use, and need quick access to. I prefer to have it empty but, well, guess I could clean it up more :)
Launching apps is done either from the Quicklaunch menu (which only has Chrome), or the apps pinned to Start Menu, so each app I need is basically 2 clicks away.
wallpapers rotate, just picked one for you guys but have a whole bunch more to be surprised by once i minimize my open windows (nearly all work is done fullscreen). The clock shows the date + Dutch time on hover.

All statements are true in some sense, false in some sense, meaningless in some sense, true and false in some sense, true and meaningless in some sense, false and meaningless in some sense, and true and false and meaningless in some sense.
Re: If not Debian...
When I'm not breaking things in Linux, I will be on what I call my gaming OS (Win 10).
I don't like too many distractions on my OS's, so the desktop is clean.

Re: If not Debian...
I would go (back I suppose) to Mac because of the hardware (and having a 'proper', if BSD style, shell is great)
I won't because I'm not rich :)

Re: If not Debian...
^ I think it's the other way around. Elementary looks too much like a Mac.
Anyway that's El Capitan, i usually hide the menu bar and the dock, turn off transparency stuff, disable iTerm2-nightly (drop-in replacement for terminal.app) cocoa frame, and i'm using https://www.spectacleapp.com/ which is basically wmutils for Aqua, to make it less distracting.
That windows machine is a cheap NUC knockoff http://www.forsa.co.id/products.php?ID= ... ion=detail which i acquire for $43, about the same price as RPi 2 here.

Re: If not Debian...
^Couldn't find one on Amazon :(
They look pretty neat (Forsa)
That would be a half-price W/OS over here. The Home edition runs $115 or so at WalMart

Nomnom: Production has been halted indefinitely since around december 2014. I could still get it for you if you really want it (for free if you have a plan to visit my uhhh country)
