If not Debian...

...which distro (or base) would you be running?

I would try three options, from the evil ones to the better ones.

a) Fedora, because it seems bleeding edge enough, interesting, but hell it would mean upgrade breakage and rpm.
b) Slackware, seems to be a winner, tried it, love it already enough and even more so its offshoot Salix. Though it is conservative like Debian Stable. I know there is current.
c) Most probably Arch itself, I know it enough to run it and it is in the end a damn rolling release and this a real one.

Interesting question.
Quite liking Arch at the moment, though it is not my main OS. Simple, bleeding, not that hard to setup. It'll probably be my choice if I need to be ready quickly.
Having fun with Gentoo lately, but aside from the sake of experiment I wouldn't pick this one as my Debian replacement. It took quite a while to have it like I want it.
My dream choice is a CRUX setup. I keep saying I'm working on it, but truth is I still have to figure out what I'm missing to get it working. I like its philosophy, though.
That said, I picked Arch.

probably Slackware, because i really enjoy their attitude towards things, and Clooney keeps selling it and i know the man has taste. maybe i will check it out some time, but still very much comfort-zoning for now ;)

^^ Thanks, rhow! :)

I guess for me (although of course I chose Slackware), the question would be "If not Slackware...," in which case I would choose OpenBSD, and possibly CRUX, based on pidsley's endorsement.

In no particular order
Fedora, Crux, BSD

I'd probably go to Slack or Arch with the same old Openbox setup. Maybe Salix.

Ubuntu? Troll.jpeg

I've picked Arch because of PKGBUILD (not pacman), the wiki (I like working on it), and It Shall Roll. That said, I probably won't stick with it in the long term.

(.... never Arch-"based" though. True Arch or nothing.)

Hmm, tough one, but funnily enough today I installed Salix Base and as Ivan said it's very good + I've been curious on Bones' Slackstuff, so all in all good/ lucky timing :)

Number 2 would be Arch I think or something completely out of my league, BSD/Gentoo/Crux :D

Sooooo the conclusion is Slackware 8)

Although I have never really used it, I chose slack. Have experience in the past with arch and SuSE. I would like to try something new and something I know has good reviews :)

I really like Manjaro so if not Debian I chose Arch based. But of course I would like Manjaro, it's like the Linux Mint of Arch.

*BSD.

There's a great deal right about the edges of the BSD world.

If I were to vote again, I'd choose Slackware. I know of no distro as friendly and unobtrusive. (plus you get clever quotes on login)
