Newsletter?
There are so many cool people and so many interesting posts on this forums that it would be a shame not to make a (quarterly) newsletter, don't you think?
So my question is: would anybody like to write some article(s) every now and then? Would there be someone who would definitely read such a BBQ newsletter?
It would be some kind of ASCII newsletter like slartie's. Of course any other format will do, too (PDF? org-mode? HTML?)
The topics would cover how-tos, tips & tricks, software/movies/music reviews, maybe even recipes, funniest/stupidest quotes from our forums, maybe some interviews, etc etc., you name it.
So...
(revoting possible)

Re: Newsletter?
I would certainly read it. I am not sure I have much to share, but...maybe?
Re: Newsletter?
Reading: absolutely.
Writing: could be, but with 2 blogs out there I'll have to find something useful to say.

Re: Newsletter?
Oh yes, I will read every shit by our members. :)
I would even write on some stuff. I still have some how-to's in mind or if there is need for it and of course time but I think it is doable if I am really inspired.
Definitely a great idea Bacon.

Re: Newsletter?
I would write some stuff, mine would mostly be rants about stupid web designers. Maybe getting into some infosec things...

Re: Newsletter?
I'd definitely subscribe. Would save me the trouble of looking through all the threads to find good stuff, after all. Whether I'm able to contribute is another matter though. Downsized to a single laptop now, alternating between macOS and OpenBSD in a VM, and excluding updating the OpenWRT install on my router and mucking about with DSM on my Synology, my experience level with maintaining a 'real' Linux system these last couple of years is basically down to zero, so I'm about as clueless as a republican at a rave. I could join Wux and rant about web designers though.

Re: Newsletter?
Wow! great idea, I will most definitely read it.
I'm not sure how i can contribute since writing stuff is a herculean task for me.

Re: Newsletter?
wow nice, that would be a handful of possible contributors. As said, this is not a weekly thing, probably not even monthly. Only the "fresh" section would bring some Linux-related obscure news (no, not the ole "Linux Mint 24 Vaginae is out now!" shite), everything else can be stale.
- Welcome
- The Freshest (obscure Linux-related news)
- Forums Digest (interesting or funny posts on our forums)
- How You Roast (some howto or workflow)
- Kudos! (things that are good and nice)
- Rant here! (shit we don't like, I guess it will be mostly about GTK updates or idiot posts on other forums)
- GTFU (an article about a certain hobby)
- Intestines (BBQ news, this would certainly be the smallest part)
Just a suggestion, I am open for every stupid idea.

I guess yeah my workflow might be interesting to people - RFC on how it could be improved welcome.
hobbies include looking after babies and breaking up my older kids fighting...
Just plaintext format, I reckon. that or 'plaintext' html V0.01
we could go oldschool and have a login to the server and edit (with maybe a lockfile, so can't edit at the same time) online.
Or google docs... and of course submissions accepted and added.
if it's on the server it can be a webpage off the bbq domain too, so there's that.

Re: Newsletter?
^ yes, if they have dvips and postscript and all that crap installed. I mean, originally the plaintext newsletter would not contain graphics, so why not simply exporting txt to PDF or reading it straight from source without additional steps :)
or we take rhow's idea and write it in plaintext -> convert to DOCx -> export to PDF -> use OCR to convert to epub -> call Calibre to make a .mobi -> save as... .txt
