BBQ Democrat - Base System

Now that we know that the Democrat will (most probably) run with an Xsession, please choose one architecture, an init system, and one login/display manager.

^paolo, I am also a follower of i686 and usually most (!) commonly used desktop and laptop PC should work well with the 686 version. 486 was/is in the experimental Debian repos, but I think I won't be able to reproduce a custom kernel.

About SLiM, well, there's always somebody who wants his Extrawurst :D (German: a specially roasted sausage)

thanks Julius !
I think about i486 because of my volunteer activity in http://www.pcofficina.org in wich we recuperate old machine for schools, no profit organization and poor people using linux.
Actually I use Antix (and like it) or pure Debian stable or some light distro for help and teach people using linux and recuperate old machine

Edit: I make some mistake... excuseme Julius :-( I was typing fast

Paolo,

this is good enough for me to create a custom spin for your project. Let me know what system you guys want, and I spin something for you :)

Send a PM if you like!

@Mikey: well, i have to say that i agree with you on GDM being nice. it is that damned 'G' in there that bugs me, and my mind translates it to 'bloat'. but since everything is bloat, who cares? :D
