Same new sid netinstall, in framebuffer/tmux. Finally figured out how to get rid of "restore console" per this thread:

http://linuxbbq.org/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=734

Also, got battery and email on the tmux status bar, only this is on a desktop machine, and I haven't set up email (mutt) yet. :P

The more I play around with different WMs, the more I find that I just prefer using framebuffer/tmux. And's it much easier (for me, at this point, anyway) to set up a sexy fb/tmux in Debian than it is in Slackware. There's some crucial tools for the job that are in the Debian repos, that aren't in SlackBuilds. If I want to do the same for Slackware, I'll have to track down the source and compile it myself.

The more I do this sort of thing, the more I appreciate the work of MB (and the other community grillers), on all the work they do to make nice preconfigured fb/tmux/WM releases.

Yes isn't it funny how a nice fb shot looks, pretty much, in the same vein as, say an i3 scrot?

^ I actually like fb better, because the fonts are nice and crisp, unlike in i3. Sure, you can clean up the fonts in X, but having them look great OOTB in fb is already done!

Just mucking about with Alpine linux, for a potential Xen server (Oooh, Lah-di-daah)
Trying to get out of the comfort zone a lot more.
Apart from the screen ratio (looks nicer on ssh) really quite normal, so far.
uses busybox and ash, haven't hit any snags yet.
Can't wait to get onto real iron... 8)

Nothing special, really. Standard Wheezy netinstall, standard task. This is TTY3 where I do my writing, play music, etc. I have a browser on TTY1 and other internet stuff on TTY2. I could just use on tmux session, but I like having tasks separated to prevent distraction.

Yeah, I'm in the market for a cool TTY colorscheme. I was checking out the ccolor script, but I haven't had a chance yet to really play around with it. I'm taking breaks from my latest writing project by seeing what I can break. :)

OK, I got playing around on my Wheezy install and decided I wanted eyecandy like the cool kids. So I compiled fbv (using that trick to get rid of the "restore console" thing), changed some colors around, and voila, I've got something usable and pretty sharp. I didn't colorize anything because I prefer white text when I'm writing.

@wux Yeah, mcabber rocks. I use it to chat on FB with the wife while she's at work. Now that they know I use it, they'll probably orphan it. That's how my life works.

The only thing left is to change that green tmux separator to blue or magenta or something, then I'm done. The only reason I ran X to begin with was wallpaper and colors, and now that I know how to do that in the framebuffer, I'm X-less for the foreseeable future. Once I get a setup I like, I keep it for a looooong time.

What surprised me is that when I came back from hibernate (pm-suspend-hybrid FTW) everything was still there. I figured everything would be mangled and I'd have to reset the screen, but it was all where I left it.

@rhowaldt If I wrote porn, would that make me dirty laundry?

I had to get rid of mcabber at work 8( - if I posted more than one line, every extra line gets sent as a new mssg, and people did not appreciated that, when pasting a log file.
That and a fully functional webbrowser keeps me in X.
didn't know that FB uses xmpp.

^ Even if you use /msay? Multi-line mode always works for me, but then I've never tried to post anything like a log or story or anything in it. I should try it for giggles.

And yeah, I didn't know it either until some time ago when I was searching for a text-mode fb client. Sure enough, works a treat.
