^ great setup there.
Re: evilwm
^ Thanks. Really liking it so far, only weird thing is that a mouse click doesn't bring the window to the top.

Re: evilwm
Finally, great scrot Kex! Welcome to the EVIL.
Re: evilwm
OK, I'm now on the evilwm bandwagon. This is way cool, but if you're running Wheezy, make sure you get the version from backports. The stock version locks up hard with 100% CPU usage when you try to kill it. Here's a couple scrots to prove that I'm in the fold.
Edit: removed thumbnails
Second edit: removed links since they were invalid (?) Will direct upload later.

Re: evilwm
Well, not sure what's linked behind those scrots, but very much NSFW. Good thing I'm on my phone!

^ Oh, crap, I didn't even think of that when I threw those up here. I marked them adult when I threw them up on Postimage, though.
Should I delete the post?

Re: evilwm
Maybe delete the links and try again. The links are getting hijacked I guess

Re: evilwm
I have no problem with pink bits but if you want, just put the links, no thumbnails. In comparison with some family friendly forums, this one here is for adults. ;)
Re: evilwm
^ done. thanks for the heads up, guys. I'll be more careful about this stuff in future.
Re: evilwm
Tried the links, got Android Trojan virus detected.
FYI, you can upload scrots directly to the forun

Re: evilwm
yes, direct upload is the way to go. porn only when proper or funny, and always accompanied by intellectual discourse.

Re: evilwm
I like the fact that you are really 100% distro-agnostic :)
(isn't evilwm in the sbopkg? Or did you mean the nearly never-ending 'slackpkg install <something> && startx && ...' routine to get X up?)

Re: evilwm
^ the X part. And then I couldn't figure out how to get scrot (and its depends) without slackbuilds, so I had to learn how to do that too. I'm sure this would all have been easier if I knew anything at all about Slack, and bones will probably laugh at my difficulties, but I did finally get it all working...
What kind of crazy system has so many different ways to install packages? LFS is almost easier.
(edit) now I am investigating sbopkg -- I see my earlier problem with it was that I had not sync'd the repo. Just learned something else... but it's really just a front-end for slackbuilds, so...

Re: evilwm
Yes, sbopkg (whose cache I did not spin up due to file size) is doing nothing else as just wget'ing (or rsync'ing) the files from slackbuilds, and it is *actually* not part of the Slackware reality. Bit like AUR.
So, the only valid thing is really just slackpkg/installpkg.
Anyway, you successfully got from Slack noX to X + wm + tools - on a new base - that's actually something to be proud of. ;)
Edit: we should add that on a standard Slackware install you get a DVD (or 6 CDs) of the official mirror with all tarballs. That makes "building" things way easier. And that's how Bones cheated :)

Re: evilwm
Yes, as bacon said, I cheated to get X up and running, because I have Slackware disks sitting around (I'm a subscriber). So, excellent work on your part, pidsley. No, I'm not laughing... I was once there, too. :) I remember the frustration of my early Slackware days, having come from Debian stable.
Re: evilwm
Haggis is alive.
- hsetroot -tile sets this wallpaper
- st with solarized palette
- evilwmrc is from ivan, it just opens st instead of urxvt
- conky is from pidsley, I just edited to my own taste
Not much, then, but I'm happy and got some tears from saying goodbye to Elektra. :)
