@Pidsley, that is something I didn't expected after reading the stories. 'Scrot, if it ain't happend' in another kind of light :) For now, it's perhaps more or less safe to say 'it's not the distro, but the way you installed it what matters' :)

Moved my LFS system to busybox init and gave it a new (old) kernel.



This is the system I modified to use CRUX packages; the system still works, but it's 32-bit and 32-bit CRUX packages are no longer being updated. I should build a 64-bit LFS one of these days so I can use the latest CRUX packages with it. Or maybe I'll add some Arch packages to this 32-bit system and really make it a hybrid...

More Alpine experiments. ratpoison, evilwm, wmx, catwm, and sscrotwm build. cwm and tfwm do not, and I am not sure why.



System is getting pretty bloated now with the build tools and -dev libs -- almost 600M. Good thing I used a 2G partition. (-:

I still use evilwm on my test boxes. If I had to choose a stacker it would be evilwm. It does everything I need.

The most simple and minimal stacker out there.

Its my default OTOB for setup but for the key binds alone is the only reason I choose cwm. I should really use evilwm just add Xbindkeys for keys, I do feel powered by evil. :)

I was bored, so I dragged one of my old P4 machines out of the closet and upgraded it from Wheezy to Stretch. That's entertainment at my house. The upgrade went smoothly with no errors at all, and this time I got switched from sysv to systemd.

It's a weird little HP Compaq machine I bought for $20 several years ago. It almost died once a while ago when I broke the clamps on the strange combined heat sink and fan, but I saved it with new grease and some wire.



Of course it has evilwm on it, and it is surprisingly usable for a machine that came out almost 15 years ago.

I have a similar HP Compaq 7600 Ultra-slim Desktop w / Celeron D I think 2 or 4g or ram paid about $80 IRC.

Ain't exactly pretty and the ram usage thru qemu ? who knows, not sure what is going on there.

I have evilwm running on one of my Alpine boxes -- no scrot today, but it looks like all my other scrots.

^ as far as I can tell Minix is built on NetBSD bones there thing is the self healing micro kernel which is interesting enough for me.

So I think I found my solution for using Evilwm and the having no keybinding and not adding a xbinder. I was thinking of either adding or changing some unused keys in the source to dmenu. But instead just made dmenu_start.sh my TERM variable. It adds a couple extra key strokes to get a terminal up but I think I can live with it. I also added two new alias's 'grab' = imlib2_grab and 'view' = imlib2_view so good bye scrot and feh.

On my HP Mini very fast and usable. Dillo, st term, x-clock shown probably add some osd for some simple pop up status for battery, date and time, etc.
