^ you are correct! those are xenull colors
i don't use my version of dwm anymore since it is too bloated ( 3000+ locs and my ability in C is quite a mess )

Made a new "portable system" for when I want to deal with keeping up with git while away from home.

Re: dwm
I am just playing with my install, trying to make it lightweight, without making it too hard to use.
So, it is not perfect, but in this scrot, I am chatting on irc, looking at the forum, and the terminal does the scroting, using 36 mb of ram, and some swap is used, on a 128mb machine.
Oh well, I will keep working on it.

Re: dwm
yea, it is not a great scrot, but it does prove that there is a browser, irc client, and a terminal up, lol
Taking a peek at the forum? is that better, maybe?

Re: dwm
for being an annoying little browser, dillo sure works very efficiently.
I reduced ram to 64mb, and I could still browse just fine.
Well, as fine as you can, with dillo.

Re: dwm
36mb? that's gonna get you at least a slowclap from pidsley :)

Re: dwm
rusty, you can go down with RAM if you refuse to run GTK apps. For chatting, eg. irssi or tinyirc or weechat (or if you like frontends, hexchat is a tad lighter) would lower the resource usage. dillo is my secret fave and probably the best choice for a GUI browser on minimal hardware.
If you go to the framebuffer, have a go with xlinks2 (links2 -g) or netsurf. Of course they do not work in a split tmux, but you could shave off another 10MB of RAM that is now wasted for dwm and X. How much is RAM when you boot into tty1 without anything else? I guess around 25.

Re: dwm
22. that is with wireless up and running, if that matters
I did try irssi, but to my surprize, in the end, together with the terminal, it used exactly the same as xchat.
I am not done experimenting....

Re: dwm
Is the terminal rxvt or something that uses libvte? :)
In the optimal case you would use a fullscreen term with tmux, and split it to [ |-] :)

Re: dwm
I used urxvt, and tried again with stterm, but all the text looked crap. It was a tiny bit lighter. I have not done anything to set it up at all.
Oh well, it will get better some day.
