Nice one.
Well, would you believe I was talking about GNOME 3 today at home and not in any kind of insulting way? I swear it's true. Didn't install it though.

Gnome 3 isn't actually that bad for what that box is (htpc hooked to the TV) but I mostly use Cinnamon as it integrates better visually (if still a bit clunky), with a fallback Blackbox install.

Edit- though I usually don't see the desktop itself much on that one.

Who else here sees the desktop as all we use to see is a browser and a terminal session. :)

I actually cheated for that Gnome 3 scrot. This is a live DVD of Antergos (Arch-based) with Gnome 3.10. Loaded my Mozilla Thunderbird/Firefox configs from a flash drive, and gave it a test, to see if my opinion had changed, or it had gotten any better. Pretty horribly dumbed-down, maybe even more than last time I tried (3.4?). It was actually fairly fast, though, even while using over 400MB of RAM (!!!!!) idling.

My scrot actually does fall into "Look at my bloat, my bloat is amazing".

There's a crap-ton of cruftiness under the hood right now. It started as a quickie "temporary" Ubuntu install on metal since a friend was asking something I couldn't reproduce in a VM. To get non-jacked up tear free video I had to kill the Batman break Unity horribly to get Compiz working. So then onto Gnome 3 since she was asking about it, which I did use for a bit, then settled in with Cinnamon. When I can, I'm gonna back up my remote mappings and junk and start over fresh.

I think I remember this breaking after just a few minutes of posting the scrot on dA. Was Gnome 3.8 on Arch

[disclaimer]These scrots are ugly.[/disclaimer]

I do have some bauchspeck scrots, but not on hardware that could give me the full Gnome experience.

I had the real thing running on Void for a little while:

If I may quote myself:
